I haven't really paid any attention to what's up with the rest of the league over the summer. But I'll go out on a limb and say the Spirit finish in spots 5-8 of west playoff teams. (I don't really consider this a limb, since--other than in goal--they look quite a bit like last year's team)

Really really really early to guess but I'd say anywhere from 3-7. (Super specific I know.) There still trades to be made, Import draft to occur, and players to sign.
London, Guelph, and Erie will be losing a good chunk of their respective teams. But each could still have decent teams left.
Sarnia, Kitchener, and Plymouth will all be young and still not ready to contend for a title this year.
Us and Windsor will probably be close depending on if Windsor decides to go for the full rebuild. If they do that then I think they miss the playoffs.
That leaves Owen Sound and the Soo. Owen Sound could take advantage of a potentially weak Mid west and grab the 2 spot. As for the Soo, it's their division/conference to lose.
Best case: The core of 16 and 17 year olds from last year take the added responsibility and run with it. We see big years from guys like Sadowy, Addison, Stephens and the returning D responds to the new D coach and gives us a blue line to be fear in 2015-16. Sarnia and the Velluciless Whalers don't take any real steps forward and stay fighting for the final playoff spots. London, Guelph and Erie don't have enough left to contend and sell at the dead line leaving the 3 spot open for us to take.
Likelyhood of this scenario: 25%
Worst case: Plymouth goes back to being Plymouth with or without Velluci. Sarnia also uses their young core and finally takes a good step forward. London, Guelph and Erie lose key pieces but have enough left to fight for the 4-6 spots. Our young forwards struggle to find the go to guy and the pressure gets put on the D for another year resulting in another year finishing in 7th.
Likelyhood of this scenario: 15%
So I think we fall somewhere between these two cases but I can't come close to guessing where right now. Fun to speculate this stuff during the summer though.

Let me be the first to be realistic that we probably aren't going to make the playoffs this year. I have no idea how good the other teams are but I don't think we're going to be that good and I'll predict that we're going to finish last in our division and 9th in the conference. Do I want that to happen...HECK NO...but I just don't think we're going to be very good.
