Saginaw selected 97 born RW Artem Artemov in the import draft today. Looks like Alexeev will not be back. Not too surprised there.
Looks like in 56 games last year, Artem had 33 points for the Chicago Steel of the USHL. Don't know what type of player he is but should be able to slot into the top 9.

In response to a tweet, someone said he is very skilled and can pretty much do anything on the ice. Good hands, good shot, skates well.
He is represented by Igor Larionov.
If true, he could be a good addition.

Larionov? Really? He was here during training camp talking with the coaches and GM. Who could have guessed one of his clients would be drafted by the Spirit.

Sean Lafortune @seanlafortune 2m
One of the quickest Import Draft signings ever, Artem Artemov has agreed to terms with the Saginaw Spirit.

I was stunned to see how fast this kid signed. He had a good first season with the Steel, and the Spirit have significant (hopefully positive) history with Larionov. And yes, we did draft his son. He was injured almost all of last season, but I have no problem with drafting a Larionov in the later rounds. And as the male members of the forum have already noted, perhaps the anthem singing will improve, both visually and musically...
