Had two goals today. One 45 seconds into the game. Had an assist in the first game yesterday and had a nice scoring opportunity in the 2nd game but missed an open net. Looked real solid all around playing with Moutrey and Clarke.

The line of Stephens-Lodge-Moutrey impressed. Moutrey in particular looks like be added an extra gear in the speed department.
Sadowy-Brown- Bennett worked thier asses off. Played against Plymouths too line and held them in check for the most part.
Artemov-Felhaber-Clarke line that oozes skill. Probably try to do to much with the puck at times but can pass and score.
The 4th line with the Webbs and McPhail could stand to check a little more but has some real potential.
As for defenders Middleton looked good. Not afraid to throw his body around. Holmes plays a good positional game.

It seems like our team's braintrust likes to keep 13 forwards and 8 defensemen on the roster. That kind of bugs the crap out of me but they do what they do.
Somehow, somewhere, in my mind the right number is 14 forwards and 7 defensemen. I wasn't sure DeSouza was coming back, and I thought Christian Rajic was going to make the team. From what I saw of him in the Blue/White scrimmages, he has a lot of skill and appears to be a tenacious penalty killer -- like a Murovich, or a smaller Szwarz or Sadowy.
Right now he is in Oakville and has 2 goals and 3 assists in 3 games. Yes, I know he is really small, but I don't care. I seem to remember being the one on draft day in 2003 stunned when no one took Bryan Little in the first or second round, and then throwing things when we took Chase Crowder in the 3rd instead of Little, who suited his name by being listed at 5-9 165 but was even smaller, then proceeded to score 342 points in 237 games with Barrie, then he was drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft, where he was listed at 5-10. So he grew a theoretical inch in all that time in the OHL. He now has 291 points in 486 NHL games. Those are NHL points. And they still lie about his height and say he is 5-11. It doesn't matter how tall he is.
I remember when the Spirit took Dustin Gazley in the 10th round in 2004. He was a top 40 forward in the entire draft, except we got him with pick #182 because he was 5-7 130. He then went to rookie camp where he proceeded to light it up. I spent a good deal of that camp standing next to his mom who was scared stiff seeing him out there against ogres like Corrente and Fletcher, but Gazley didn't look out of place. He never played for the Spirit, instead he went to Michigan State, where he scored 73 points in 153 games and ended up as an alternate captain. He is now playing in the AHL where he is listed at 5-9 154, even now at the age of 25. For the record, Corrente is also in the AHL. Fletcher was in the ECHL three years ago and now I'm not sure where he is (although the conversations with his dad were great).
Point being, I don't care if the player is a tree or not if they have skill. Gazley wouldn't have torn it up like Bryan Little did, but anyone who is in the AHL now would have been good enough to play for the Spirit way back when.
My hope is that Rajic tears it up in Oakville to the point where the team will have no choice but to bring him up.

Yeah I'm with you on the whole size issue and Rajic Stu. Enough skill makes up for being small. Rajic is one of the smallest guys I've seen on skates but he knows how to get into open space and put up points. Let him get a full year in Oakville to get top 6 minutes (which he wouldn't get here this year) to refine his game. Let him make his way into the line up next year at 18. Similar route that Bennett took. From what I've seen from him this year so far, the extra year in Oakville has helped Bennett. I think it would be good for him too. Definitely a fan of Rajic's. Gonna be one to keep an eye on.

Rajic sure competes and team will be young but I really like the direction they are heading.

Sadowy in a fight up at camp...I think he lost at the end but I'm not really sure who's who.

Sadowy is a Shark and therefore the guy in white. The other guy is a Duck and is therefore the guy in black.
Quack quack quack quack quack, Mr. Ducksworth~!!

Interesting that he said that Bitten is the one guy he wants to play against. Sort of adds another level to the Plymouth/Saginaw rivalry.

Sadowy was reassigned from the Sharks to the Spirit on the 18th. Or maybe the 19th. Don't quote me on that one.
Plus, he and Jimmy Lodge cut a somewhat funny Dodge Dart commercial for Garber.
I think the Red Wings (or any NHL team for that matter) have until the start of the season to sign Clarke, or he goes back into the draft for next June.
