Threw out this roster projection on HFBoards right after camp before any signings, still holding to it:
Sadowy-Stephens-Barwell Coskey-Felhaber-Paliani Maksimov-Artemov-Larionov Jr. Jackson-Gilmour-Brown ex: M. Webb, Bennett
Dito-Middleton Stewart-Proner Crawford-Import ex: Rudakov, Holmes
Cormier Murdaca ---------------------
I will say that I could see an OA forward brought in if either Jackson or Larionov Jr. arent signed.

First offseason trade:
Spirit acquire Will Petschenig in exchange for a conditional 15th round pick in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
The Manotick, Ontario native, Petschenig has played the last three seasons with the Generals. During the 2014-15 regular season, he recorded 3 goals with 10 assists in 45 games played. Additionally he tallied a plus 25 +/- rating.
He will be an O/A this year.

Well good and bad news according to Oshawa fans:
The good, he's a shut down defenseman and really thought he was a lock to be an O/A with Oshawa this upcoming season
The bad, he has a broken arm that may sideline him into the start of next season and if he skates for us we gave up conditional 2nd and 4th's to get him.

By all accounts Will is the perfect guy to help bring along Middleton, Crawford, Stewart and Proner. As I understand it the cast is off and he's rehabbing the injury at the moment. He's got a few months. Don't know the time table for recovery of a broken arm. Let's hope he's ready by then. Price seems right for a guy of his quality.

A 2nd and a 4th for a guy here one year and coming off a broken arm. Wow. Hire an experienced GM soon, please.

Your also getting a guy who was a leader in Oshawa both on and off the ice who will be able to mentor the young core of defenseman we have. Yes WILL might only be here for one year but the positive effects of this trade might be felt for a few years. Reasonable price IMO.

Big Jim is sticking around for the import draft, so I would assume he is still making trades. Might be wrong. We have a bunch of picks we aren't going to use in the next few years (hopefully), so provided his arm is ok I don't see a real problem getting another leader/mentor for our inexperienced D.

Did we get 2nd and 4th round picks for the overagers we have traded away in the recent years? If the plan is to keep him until the trade deadline and deal him to a Memorial Cup contender this coming season, so we can further build for the 16-17, then it is a good move. But I would want to use our 2nd and 3rd round picks for building the following season. Too soon to go for it this year.

Now we have a date, get the roster finalized with a few more trades and sit back for an exciting season.

With the new defenseman being added and Proner signed there is probably only 2 spots available for Holmes, Henley, and Stewart. Someone will get moved or cut.
You can probably go ahead and sew Ringuette's A to Petschenig's jersey now.
If the Spirit use their import pick and trade Kodola, I was originally thinking the might go for a defenseman, but probably not now. Therefore, it has just become even harder for the Webbs and McPhail to make the team now. There might be only one spot available for all those guys, plus if Jackson makes the team, it will probably be at the expense of everyone on last year's fourth line.
Its going to be hard to make this team for a lot of guys from last year because we have only lost one guy, and signed four rookie regulars, and traded for one new guy. Plus a lot of 17 year olds like Larionov and Jackson are going to be given chances to make it.
If you look at the team according to age, we have a glut of 18 year olds for this upcoming season. A lot of those guys are not going to make the team. In addition, there are non-18-year-old wild cards like Blake Clarke -- who knows what will happen there.

I kinda echo what stu said. Was this we would go defense in the import draft but with our new acquisition I think we go for a forward now. This could definitely be a good thing as there are plenty of him end Russian forwards that Larionov could convince to come over for us that would be an upgrade over Kodola.
