Looks like Flint has 3 road games & ZERO home games. Weird.

I'll bet they are still getting the IMA ready. Remember our first season where we had zero home preseason games?
One extra home game means one more jersey for my jersey carousel this season. I'll be putting the schedule out soon, but the summer gamer jersey acquisition season is still in full swing. Lots of teams are clearing out their closets this time of year.

I saw on MLive a couple weeks ago that Flint is building two new locker rooms, a media center, offices for the coaching staff, and some new concession stands at their arena, which is now called the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center. Had to imagine it wouldn't be done in time, or they'd just want to wait until opening night to unveil everything. I felt like they could have had a preseason game at the Ice Mountain Arena or something.

Ahhh, the old DFCUEC. Hey honey...want to head to the Dort tonight? Happy for them and their sponsorship but I'm sure glad we have "TheDow" vs. "TheDort".

I hope they address what was BY FAR the #1 issue there at "The Dort" - the bathrooms! After having to trapse in through ankle deep "liquid" (ok, maybe not ankle deep - but close!), I always made sure I went before I left home, and if I had to go at the game I held it til we were on the road home & could hit a gas station or rest area, which were always cleaner than the IMA!

I think an even bigger issue is parking. They have a huge lot and yet when it was laid out whoever did it turned the logic part of their brains off. It should not take 45 minutes to go from exiting I-69 to parking in the lot. Traffic signals will also need to be addressed.

Went to a couple of Warriors games in Feb/Mar after announcement that Karmanos had cashed the check and team was moving. First time I'd been in the barn since Gen's final playoff run in 2010. Bathrooms were fine. Food's same level as the Dow (draw your own conclusions). Biggest issue was doors on south side propped open so smokers could get their fix - Ice Station Zebra. (Of course, w only 500 bodies there wasn't a whole lot of heat being generated as offset.) As for getting there, best bet's usually exiting 69 onto Dort, not Center (assuming that mess is completed by the fall)

Channel 12 reported last week that not having any home pre-season games was done on purpose because the Firebirds management wants the first view of the refurbished arena to be on opening night.

Why, they haven't shown the game on the screen in 2-3 years...I love going to the Spirit games but I can't see one of the corners and I got used to looking up at the screen and when I look up now, it's just an advertisement. Would be nice for some replays but if they're not going to show the game on there, I can't see them spending the money to upgrade it.

Outside of exhibition games, does any one know when training camp and the white and blue games are supposed to take place? Those are normally free and super fun to go to see who makes the roster.
