I'm amazed not to see a thread about this! Leigh is going to Sarnia to work for the Sting. Sarnia is his home town--might have figured in. Best of luck; he was a tireless promoter of the Spirit in his years here. This leaves the Spirit in an interesting position--no PBP guy with the season just a couple of months away. Do they try to poach another team's guy. or do they go with a younger unknown from somewhere? FYI--I tweeted Greg Brady and asked when he's be dropping his present loser gig to come back for fame and glory with the Spirit. He said when an ownership stake was involved... (For those who might not know, Greg hosts the #1 radio sports show in the Toronto metro area. A dream job which I doubt he ever leaves!)

If we could make this thread about Greg Brady -- it doesn't bother me in the slightest that he won't be coming back. It was painful sometimes to listen to him go on and on about this call or that one -- when in reality his complaining didn't make any sense because he didn't understand the rules of the game of hockey. One time he could not stop going on and on about how we were getting screwed when we gave up a goal on a delayed penalty and still ended up having a guy in the box. Except -- we were killing a penalty at the time, and a goal can't wipe out 2 penalties. But Greg didn't know the rules of hockey.
He also went well out of his way to read message boards and go on the radio, and less than subtly use his microphone to destroy some of our arguments in a condescending, I know better than all of you, sort of way. That sort of stuff is fine if you have a drive time talk show on a sports station, but not while you are trying to do play by play.
I assume he is a fine talk show host -- and the stuff with Mancini before the game was talk show stuff, not play by play stuff -- but not a very good play by play man.
I'll bet there is someone out there with play by play experience who wants to call games for a league with the best NHL prospects. This league is a step up for a lot of radio guys, and many stay in this league for decades, an entire career. I'm not worried about the search and there is a lot of time.
