Saginaw wins 5-4 in a shootout against a rested Kitchener team...wow, who saw that coming?! I'm actually mad about how this could have been a 5 or 6 for 6 weekend lol. But I'll take the 4 for 6. 2 games next weekend at home against Sudbury and Peterborough. This will also be the first games I'll get to attend this year so I'm excited.
Correction: Forgot to mention we play at Plymouth on Thanksgiving Eve.

Down 2-0 early again they could have folded up like a cheap suit but didn't. Nice win after a disappointing loss to St. Mikes and a needed win against Erie. I'll take 4 out of 6 points especially after the St. Mikes loss.
Hard to believe that Wednesday night will finally be the 1st game of the season against our pals from Plymouth.

The boys played well today against a team that was 18-3-0-0 and leading the OHL. After a slow start for the first 5 or so minutes, they bounced back and played well the rest of the game. Looked to me like their legs started to give out about half way thru the 3rd period. In overtime, it seemed they were playing for a tie, so they could go to a shoot-out. Was standing next to the goal judge during the shoot-out and both Combs and McDonough made excellent moves to beat Rangers' goalie Parks.
Don't know if Cam mentioned it on the radio, but the team was delayed a couple of hours on I-190 in downtown Buffalo on their way from Erie to Kitchener last night because of a major accident caused by a glazed-over highway. We must have missed the accident by less than 5 minutes. Team arrived at the Radisson in Kitchener at 4:30am!!! Makes their victory even more impressive.

Credit where credit is due, and credit is really due for this win. This was a real gutsy effort and showed a lot of mental and physical fortitude to come back, in the circumstances, from a tough first 10 minutes or so, when they gave up two goals pretty quickly. I was very impressed. The team won this through sheer hard work and determination and I think is a good example of what a Todd Watson-led team can do when at its best. They didn't give up. Ever. And Kitchener was playing very well, in case anyone thought they just had a bad game. This shows that the team seems to be very cohesive and heading in a positive direction.

The Kitchener fans who have commented on the game in the NOOF game thread give Saginaw alot of credit for coming back in this game. However, they do not feel their team played very well other than the 1st part of the game where they took the early 2 goal lead. NOOF Game Thread: www.rinkratmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24196

If you are cruising along in first place, one of the premier teams in the league, and the last place team comes into your house and takes two points, I guess you need to come up with a reason. Maybe we don't match up With Kitchener in talent, but I think that at that particular point in time (for one reason or another), the Spirit were were the better team. Plain and simple.
