"Or you might be happier if there were no team at all in town... then they couldn't trade the wrong players or draft the wrong players or hire the wrong GM..... "
I think once the organization runs out of gm's and head coaches to hire, or players to trade away without players in return, their will not be a team in town at all.... ;D ;D ;D

"I too would have to disagree with you here. Besides from McDonough, Daniels is the only other player on that ice that gives his all. He hasn't given up on this team and in all honesty if I was him it'd be hard for me not to. Daniels is a great goaltender however he has not been given the tools or the opprotunity to prove himself 100% yet. This is his time, however he doesn't have the tools (a developed team) in order to go the great distance, none the less I am happy to have him here. I think we need to start giving him some respect, he has been here through a lot of the difficult times, as have McDonough and Combs, and these three players are the three that we should be supporting because they are dedicated to this team..Do I even need to point out once again that our former captain left us? Is that dedication? NO. Yet we still have given Asselin more respect than Daniels has ever gotten..this I will never understand. I'm sorry for the ranting and raving, but this is getting a little ridiculous. This trade in all reality has given us a chance at a good up and coming goalie but that is it. Nothing more. Taylor, from the few times I've seen him play has been less than stellar..I wish the best of luck to the team and those dedicated players who have stuck with this organization..it seems like thats getting harder and harder to do as time goes on.. "
your kidding right, Daniels not given the tools or opportunity to prove himself? How quickly we forget that he cost us a trip to the second round last year. He had more than enough tools and more ice time than he should have and still choked. Besides when he is on the ice hes on his back more than hes standing anyway especially before the shot. By the way Asselin was traded he didn't leave plus he was loyal to us for five years. Daniels has been here what three and thinks hes a superstar. Trade this headcase and give this new kid a chance.

Why do some of you even bother going to games or follow the team? There is never a positive word out of some people's mouths. The Flint Generals play hockey right down the road if you are not happy with the way things are in Saginaw. Or you might be happier if there were no team at all in town... then they couldn't trade the wrong players or draft the wrong players or hire the wrong GM..... Here we go again. Why is it that any opinion that does not coincide with yours (or a select inner circle) always gets this "you people shouldn't bother to be going to games, etc. etc." This is a FORUM. Free and open exchange of ideas. I have seen no personal attacks, implied or otherwise, on this thread until you posted this, SGF. This has nothing to do with the topic being discussed, and everything to do with mudslinging. Go ahead and ban me. It's what comes next. Everyone else, please get back to discussing the topic at hand, ie the trade.

please get back to discussing the topic at hand, ie the trade. Thanks sf8, you beat me to it. give this new kid a chance. I do agree with acw84 on this point. Pasquale needs to be given a chance to show what he can do now. Why make this trade if you aren't going to give this kid a chance to play??

spiritfan8...I don't think SGF was calling out you in particular...there is just a group that doesn't like ANY move that we make. If you look at the way I broke it down, the trade is at minumum even and I actually see it as slightly in our favour (added the u for our canadian friends).
If this trade was with Oshawa and we also sent McDonough and Combs in order to get John Tavares, there would be a group that would be after Don Edwards head even though we just acquired the best player in hockey.

First of all Daniels has been here for 4. Second of all, because we trade for a 90' goalie, Daniels is automatically going to lose his job. If he isnt traded himself now, I would imagine he would be here to groom him or have Pasquale learn from him.
Now dont go and some caddy comment about him not being a good player to learn from, you can tell Daniels competes and he hasnt stopped competing all year. He is a veteran, he has over 100 starts in the league and he is drafted to the NHL. There is a reason why the team has lost 4 games in a row now, yet Daniels kept playing and Watson had rave reviews about him when he has been negative before.
If you go back and read the Sharks article on how great Daniels and VanBuskirk got along, you know that wasnt the case last year and VanBuskirk was more of a threat to Daniels then Perron. That would make me assume that Daniels has changed for the better... So lay off and cut the kid some slack ... McDonough, Combs and Daniels have been our best players lately..

Everyone else, please get back to discussing the topic at hand, ie the trade. Wasn't calling anyone in particular out. I am just sick of the whining & complaining on here about every move the team makes. That does have everything to do with this thread because if you look back at the posts, there's all the whining there. And you are right, everyone IS allowed their own opinion, why is it that every time I disagree with YOU you post something like you did? I know you are upset about the one trouble maker being banned, and again, hate to have to keep going off topic here, but YOU DO NOT KNOW why he was banned! Plain & simple. I have tried not to talk about why & do not wish to. But it was not for "disagreeing" with me. Hell, if that was the case none of you would be on here & I would have this message board to myself, because I am sure I have not agreed 100% with EVERYTHING that EVERYONE has had to say on here. You complain that I personally attacked you & that no one has done that until I did it to you - well again, I was not referring to you in particular, as Don said, it was in general to all the complaining. So what do you do when complaining about my supposed "mudslinging"? You throw in a little jab like "Go ahead and ban me. It's what comes next." I would like you to justify that. Tell me, who all have I banned??? I have banned a total of ONE PERSON in 6 years of doing this message board! Granted that person used 3 or 4 different names, but it was ONE PERSON. So you are WAY off base on your comment. So let me get back to what I was originally trying to say - and I am not pointing at any one particular person - if you dislike the team so much & every move that is made, why follow the team? I mean, I am not trying to tell fans to leave, just saying that why would you subject yourself to such torment & pain & watch the way the team operates, which is not to your standards, if you could do something else? That's all I was saying.

Maybe others do like hockey and the team, but are just venting their frustrations and opinions about what they think should have been done or what has been done. You should be able to say whatever you like on a forum. Even though you are an administrator I also don't think that gives you the right to ban people. Instead you should ask all the members what they think. Ask of others opinions. I don't really care about Midlandpucks because that was a month or two ago, but your posts just really annoy me how you try take away others opinions. Negative or not, all the time, it's an opinion. The end.

IMO I think this trade works out decently for Saginaw. I would have liked to have seen maybe 2nd round picks instead of 3rd but either way I think it was a good trade. Mursak and Williams both haven’t been playing up to their potential this year and that went a long way in hurting their trade value. The Bus really isn’t better then Daniels, and it is about time we start working with a young goalie getting him ready to take over after Daniels is gone. I would have liked to have seen the spirit drafting one in the earlier rounds but now we have traded for one that should be here for at least a couple years after this one. I really like Mursak and I hope he goes on to eventually be a force in the NHL, but with that a change of scenery might be good for him and help him get back the spark he had last year. Williams I am glad to see him go, on the ice he has been the biggest defensive liability the spirit have had. I’m sure that with Williams gone we will probably see more of Cody Sol and give him a chance to develop at the OHL level, unless there is another trade coming for a defenseman.
With having a new GM and a new Coach you have to expect that they will want to put their stamp on the team. It is expected that key players would be traded this year, and there would be some discontents that would probably want out. And in the same aspect you would expect that they would look to bring in players that they get along with that they know and have liked. Both have not been here for a year yet, have yet to go through an actual draft with the spirit, you have to expect that they are going to shake things up and do things different from previous GM’s and coaches. Why not give them a chance to do their jobs and if it doesn’t pan out in a couple years then start the tie raid.
I agree with SGF (and he’s never banned me when we disagreed), it appears there are people who just come on here to bash the spirit and every move they make. I am unsure if it is because they hate the organization, hate the owners, the GM, the coach, the guy that drives the Zamboni or what? But maybe for a change you might want to try going to the games see how the team is currently playing and try to make an evaluation off of that. You can look at previous stats and what round someone was drafted in all day, it doesn’t always translate to what is going on out there on the ice.
