Bruce Cech served as play by play from 1986-88 as Saginaw Generals and Saginaw Hawks on WSAM 1400. Now in Fairbanks Alaska and will begin 20th season as the voice of the Alaska Nanooks, former UAF Nanooks, in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association(CCHA) with the likes of Michigan, Michigan State...
Broadcasts are streamed at KSUA radio on internet. KYSC/ aka KISS FM also broadcasts...

There have been some interviews conducted but no hires as of yet. If worse comes to worse, I would assume Cameron Knowles will start off the season as the voice of the Spirit.

I have heard that Cameron Knowles is leaving. Wife took a job out of state. Heard through the grapvine, but from a pretty reliable source.

I have heard that Cameron Knowles is leaving. Wife took a job out of state. Heard through the grapvine, but from a pretty reliable source. I did not want to be the one to out this because i have a lot of respect for Cameron but I was told this as well recently. Best wishes to you Cameron! |

lynn roberts will be taking on a bigger role while eating the microphone and piercing our ears yelling SCREEEEEAAMMMM or make some NOISE she will then proceed to do the on ice presentations. I wonder what ever happened to the 1st guy we had aaron adams(sp) id welcome him back in a heartbeat.

Back to the question about a play-by-play broadcaster for this season. Has anyone heard or read anything?? Only 5 days until the 1st pre-season game and only 17 days until opening night.

with the "pending" announcement of Cam leaving, the Spirit are looking for someone to have on-staff that will handle duties such as radio broadcasting and some other public relations duties. Basically, you lose two people and fill both spots with one person which makes plenty of sense. I was told that most organizations that do as much radio and PR stuff have someone on staff.

Actually, Cameron said there is nothing "imminant" in regards to his status. Keep in mind that DJ is pretty well connected when it comes to Spirit info. So my guess is, it's going to happen, perhaps not right away, but most likely sometime this season.

In truth, at times there are things that I know about that I do not share with the group here just because I value relationships more than I value Live, Local and LateBreaking News.
I had heard about the Cam thing but didn't want to break it on a message board. Once SagDude spilled the beans, i thought I would confirm it with what i had heard so we didn't mess around with mindless good/bad speculation about a guy that has done a tremendous amount of great work for our hockey team.
