Jack Combs scores a powerplay tally to make it 7-2 Saginaw. The Spirit are currently on a 5 minute powerplay...an Erie player got a 5 minute slashing penalty and a game misconduct.

Final score is 7-3 for the Spirit. Erie scored a meaningless powerplay goal with about 30 seconds left.
Feels good to get a blowout victory for once. Hopefully this gives us some momentum heading into London on Saturday. Let's give the Knights their first ever loss in Saginaw this weekend!

Holmes is moving to Houston, so Saturday's game will probably be the only one he does w/ Fic.
Shanghai--When the lineups were announced before the game, the announcer said, "...and add # (whatever), Justin Garay, goalie for the Otters." We all heard it and looked at each other, because he has been playing in the ECHL this season. I thought he was older than 20, but obviously he is not. Pretty good effort by the Spirit tonight. It WAS Erie, but we all know that they have often struggled in this type of game this year. Pasquale was welcomed to Saginaw by a short handed goal on Erie's first shot of the game--not the start he was looking for, I'm sure. But he settled in and looked decent after that, especially on a long Erie PP in the first, when he made 3 or 4 good saves. He's a big kid, looks very flexible for his size. I was impressed that he got himself back together after the shortie. Erie's third goal was on a PP with 30 seconds left in the game. Brendan Taylor also had a rude welcome to Saginaw, as he was helped off the ice in the second following a goal on which he had his second assist of the night. And Nick Palmieri's slash to the back of Jordan Oglivie's knees should bring back memories of a certain Ice Dog d-man who gave the same slash to Ryan Berard late last season. Oglivie tried valiantly to get up and get off the ice, but he couldn't do it. The league will be taking a look at that play for sure. The last thing the Otters need is to lose another player, especially when he is one of their two or three best. Best goal of the night was probably Joe Pleikaitas'. Going in on a breakaway--thanks to a sweet pass from Brad Smith--he was hooked down and still managed to put the puck in even as he hit the ice. Ryan McDonough had a great game--he was all over the ice. Good game for Crawford, too, at both ends of the ice. Absolutely nothing has gone right for the Otters this year--when you lose a player to a mugging at the mall, it's hit rock bottom--and it showed. It will be interesting to see what Ftorek has in mind for the off-season. There will be another high draft pick, for sure. By the way--first player to the net to congratulate Pasquale on the win? Ryan Daniels.............

just a quick note...Pasquale looked GREAT in goal last night...very quick moving, saw the puck in traffic, I was VERY impressed for a 17 year old.

Pasquale played awesome, I was very impressed with him. I feel comfortable with our goaltending future now...I was worried after the first goal, but he stood on his head the rest of the game.
Pleikeitus' (sp?) goal was amazing. Definitely the goal of the night.
Erie controlled the pace of the game last night, but we controlled the scoring. Our powerplay was bad in the beginning, but got MUCH better afterwards. I am a big Murovich fan, really like that kid. Liked him from his first night.
And NO stupid Williams penalties, which was GREAT last night.
Awesome game. Hope we can do well against London on Saturday. I assume Daniels will be back in net...?

I'm glad that Watson played Pasquale last night so we can have an idea of what he's capable of. However, I'm not ready to declare him our future #1 after just one game against the league's worst team.
Has anyone heard anything about Taylor's condition, as well as that d-man (can't remember his name right now) who took that slash?

Also wanted to comment on the above post about the attendance being so good for a Thursday game. One of the groups supplied about 1,000 of those people, they announced it during intermission. Still seats sold and butts in seats, but that was what accounted for it. I can't remember the group.
