WOW!!! The guy in China has to start the game thread after the game has finished?? Sounds like Saginaw took advantage of London goaltender Steve Mason being away at Canada's WJC team tryout camp as they come away with a 7-2 win. I also see you didn't have to wait long to toss your teddy bears as Brendan Taylor scored for Saginaw at the 1:36 mark of the 1st period. I'm a little surprised, also, Shanghai--thanks for starting one! London continues their streak of having zero wins for the season without Steve Mason in net. Kudoes to Adam Bell of the Spirit game day team, who saw me coming in w/ my teddy bear and told me he had a feeling I wouldn't have to hold him long--he nailed it!! Spirit were simply all over London tonight, and it is easy to see why Mason is so important to them--without him they are a pretty ordinary team, and not particularly strong in goal. More importantly, they seemed to be playing with that thought in mind. Much like Colorado with Roy or Buffalo with Hasek--those teams all knew their goalie was going to save them from a lot of mistakes, and it freed them up to play their game--London leans very heavily on Mason. Everyone played well tonight. Special mention to Jack "Magic Hands" Combs for his highlight reel goal in the second period. Brendan Taylor--a machine (OK, it's only been two games, and one was against Erie. But he is certainly off to a good start.) London took the collar on the PP tonight--good job, penalty killers. At one point I looked out on the ice tonight and there were 4 players not with the Spirit at the beginning of the season. The 5th player was Jordan Oglivie. The team is changing under the new mgmt., and it is going to be interesting watching how things work out.

Dominating performance tonight by the Spirit. Seems like kind of odd scheduling that we have to play an Eastern Conference team on the road Sunday afternoon following a home game though.
First time in franchise history that Saginaw beat London at the Dow. I believe we were 0-9-1 against the Knights previously.

The schedule is odd, and that is going to be a heck of a nasty trip to Brampton. And that is not even counting the weather, which is promising to be horrible.

Only 3400 for Teddy Bear toss night on a Saturday night versus London. Where oh where are all of the hockey fans?? Was the weather bad??

Somewhat...I'm sure the storm scared away a few people. It started snowing at around 5:30 or so and hasn't stopped since. Still a pretty energetic crowd with several Knights fans mixed in. I wouldn't be surprised if Saginaw just stays in Brampton after the game today. It's pretty nasty out there this morning.

From the discussion at the Blue Line club after the game, the majority of the team is getting off the bus in Brampton for the Christmas break. I'd be surprised if more than 2 or 3 players actually came back on the bus depending on their travel arrangements heading home.
Have a safe trip home boys.

WOW!!! The guy in China has to start the game thread after the game has finished?? I would have done it had I gone, but I was fishtailing it down I-75 after the Red Wings game instead & possibly the greatest promotion ever - $1 hot dog night! Was an honor to help contribute to the new JLA record of nearly 12,000 hot dogs consumed in one night..... ;D But no, seriously, I am bummed that I missed this game! Last one for a while!

Dominating performance tonight by the Spirit. Not to take anything away from the Spirit, but I don't think London played nearly as well as they normally do. There was very little goonish moves, though Perry jabbed his stick at Zaborski early in the first as Zab was leaving the ice for a line change and Aliu, well I can't believe he was actually behaving himself (other than the push-shove with Combs in the first). When London goons it up and plays dirty, they walk all over the other team, not so tonight. Maybe the Hunters thought they could walk all over Saginaw without the goonish play.

Is it okay to quote youreself? ;D Anyway, I was just looking at the score sheet and London only dressed 15 players and the two net minders. That may have had something to do with it too.

A win is a win. I don't really care if poor London only dressed 6 players. The 2 points is all that matters. How many fans of other teams felt badly for Saginaw last season when we lost more players to the WJ than any other team?? Keep that in mind!!
