Today is the final slate of games before the OHL breaks for the holidays, and Saginaw is on the road to take on the Batallion. Brampton has kind of come out of nowhere this season...they are 2nd overall in the East and riding a 7 game winning streak with a record of 20-10-1-2. Saginaw comes into action with a 2 game winning streak, outscoring opponents 14-5, good for a record of 13-14-3-1 and 7th in the conference. The Spirit have still played the fewest amount of games out of anybody in the West, and the entire league outside of Kingston. I can't necessarily say I have the best feeling about this game, considering we had to play and travel last night, while Brampton has been sitting at home waiting for us. But nonetheless...let's go Spirit!

1-0 Brampton after the 1st period, courtesy of a powerplay goal by Kyle DeCoste. The Spirit got into some late penalty trouble and still have over a minute of a 5 on 3 to kill off. Daniels is in net today.

Ficorelli is absolutely painful to listen to. Here's hoping Holmes grabs the mike from him in the 2nd and takes over the play by play.

Jack Combs ties it up 1-1 with a powerplay tally early in the 2nd.

Zaborsky scores with about 5 minutes left in the period to give the Spirit a 2-1 lead.

Spirit up 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. Sounds like Daniels was standing on his head in the last 5 minutes of that period.

I was told by family members from Muskegon yesterday that Ficorelli was much loved in Muskegon, and his leaving did not endear Saginaw to the town. Perhaps he is an acquired taste...............

I've personally felt that Fic is doing a better job today than when I listened to him on Thursday...

Brampton was awarded a penalty shot with 6:01 left but the shooter, Thomas Stajan, faned on it. Still 2-1 Saginaw.

I agree. I actually think he was a little nervous on Thursday. He is "growing on" me as I listen to him more often.
Since he has done this for 30 years, he can't be as awful as some might as first thought.

Ficorelli is a 30-year run on sentence..... This one get's my vote for "post of the week". In all honesty, when I first heard this guy on the radio I thought to myself. Good Grief, what have they done now. I think this is going to be one of those deals where the more you listen to this guy, the more he will grow on you. He's stumbling a little right now but I will give him some time to get to know the players before I pass my final judgement. We were spoiled around these parts by Greg Brady. I even think Cameron Knowles, who had zero hockey experience when he first started, came on strong and was a better than average play by play guy this season. At least when he started doing play by play he already knew the team. Heck, it's Christmas, let's give this guy till the end of the year and then, if he doesn't get any better, we can all hammer him as the new year rolls in. Peace.
