It's the back end of a home-and-home series with our friends from down south, the Plymouth Whalers. Saginaw won the front half of the weekend series with a 4-2 win in Plymouth on Thursday afternoon. The Saginaw win evened the season series at 1 game apiece. Any chance we might see Pasquale between the pipes for the Spirit?? Looking forward to watching this game for free via OHL Livestream on Sunday morning from beautiful Shanghai, China home of the Shanghai chapter of the Spirit Fan Club. Too bad the current membership is only 1 person, yours truly. Oh well, have to start somewhere, right?? Enjoy the game everyone and Happy New Year to all of my fellow Spirit fans!!! Pasquale is in goal for Saginaw. The Livestream I am getting all the way over here in Shanghai looks pretty good so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for no glitsches.
And another bonus, Honesty Elliot is singing the American anthem. Someone else sang the Canadien anthem.

Brad Beer and Shaun Davis as ref's tonight. Should be an interestingly called game.
I hope Shanghai is enjoying the live webcast!

Honesty is not doing the anthems - that is not a good start to a great game.
HONESTY is singing the American Anthem. GREAT!!!

Starting early in the game and our boys are putting the pressure on the Whalers and hare hitting the fish early.
Unfortunately the smelly fish from down south get the first shot on net.
So far, the Whalers (smelly fish) have won the first two faceoffs.

Early in the game and the spirit defense is weak.
I think the Whalers are not happy with the lose the other day and are responding with early pressure on Pasquale with several early chances.

Excellent job on the 5-on-3 PK by Saginaw. 2nd penalty killed off as well. Saginaw now going on the PP.

Plymouth takes the lead early in the 2nd period but Jordan Szwarz ties it on a Spirit power play. Jack Combs and Tomas Zaborsky get the helpers.

Chappell gives Saginaw a 2-1 lead on the power play.
EDIT: Zaborsky makes it 3-1 Saginaw 56 seconds later. Davis has asked for a video review. It is a goal!! Combs with another helper.
EDIT: Saginaw leads 3-1 after 2 periods. Plymouth outshot Saginaw 12-10 in the 2nd period. For the game, shots are now 19-15 Plymouth. I see the on line scoresheet has the attendance listed as 5527 which is a sell out if I remember correctly.
2nd Period Scoring 2. PLY Lee, (5) (Fournier, Terry), 0:37 2. SAG Szwarz, (6) (Combs, Zaborsky), 2:40 (PP) 2. SAG Chappell, (5) (Crawford, Comrie), 9:05 (PP) 2. SAG Zaborsky, (19) (Ogilvie, Combs), 10:01

JAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK Combs makes it 5-1 Spirit on the power play. Saginaw is 4 for 6 with the man advantage.
EDIT: Terry cuts the lead to 5-2 on a Plymouth 5-on-3 PP goal.
EDIT: Now 5-3 as Steingraber scores with under 2 minutes to go. Goal was actually credited to Cooper but was originally announced as Steingraber.
