JAAAAAAAAAAACK Combs seals the deal with an empty netter to make it 6-3. Another 4 point night for Combs.
Game Over!!! Saginaw sweeps the home-and-home series with a 6-3 win over Plymouth. They take a 2-1 lead in the season series and have now won 5 straight.

Chappell with his 2nd PP goal of the game makes it 4-1 good guys!! I see the on line scoresheet shows Jack Combs with the 4th Saginaw goal. Was there an announcement later during the game that this was changed?? Fic announced it as Chappell getting the goal during the broadcast. EDIT: It has been corrected on the OHL on line scoresheet. Chappell gets the 4th Saginaw goal, his 2nd of the game. 3rd Period Scoring 3. SAG Chappell, (6) (Murovich, Comrie), 3:59 (PP) 3. SAG Combs, (24) (McDonough, Zaborsky), 5:45 (PP) 3. PLY Terry, (25) (Fournier, Cunningham), 14:48 (PP) 3. PLY Cooper, (7) (Steingraber, Jenks), 18:30 3. SAG Combs, (25) , 19:53 (EN)

Spirit played very well against Plymouth tonight. Zaborsky did a great job breaking through the defense on several occasions. Terry was something to watch from Plymouth, we had a very hard time slowing him down. Plymouth seemed to want to play a faster paced game, but we were able to slow it down to where we were comfortable. Loved seeing the big crowd tonight, even though about 25% were from Plymouth.
Pasquale was good in net, I'm still very comfortable about our goaltending future with him on board.
All in all, great game, good to see us get a win against Plymouth in our arena, and two in a row. This is definitely a better team than everyone expected we'd have at the beginning of the season.
Good job Spirit.

Anyone who doubts how important goaltending is in this league needs only look at the recent London and Plymouth games. Without Mason and Smith, those two teams are being exposed. Let us hope the trend continues Monday with Windsor, as Neuwierth (sorry--I know that's the wrong spelling!) is also gone at Worlds, plus we get another shot at London w/o Mason next week.

He played well every time I saw him last season.

I watched the game last night at work on the free insync and in the first five minutes of the broadcast during the pregame, Ficorelli mentioned the names of all the officials four times (yes, four times in the first five minutes of the broadcast!).
He is a perpetual run-on sentence - yes, the team is 5-0 with him, but his style is absolutely painful to listen to.

Thanks, SSF. Both the correct spelling and the thought on Engelage came to me in the middle of the night last night--must have been when you were typing them! One bright note is that Mickey Reynaud should be missing Monday's game I think, due to a fracas at the end of a game Windsor played this week. (London, I think) The Spits people were talking about a two game mandatory, so let's hope they are correct.

I believe the correct spelling is Neuvirth [/quote]:
And it is properly pronounced Noy' virth.

"I watched the game last night at work on the free insync and in the first five minutes of the broadcast during the pregame, Ficorelli mentioned the names of all the officials four times (yes, four times in the first five minutes of the broadcast!)."
The game started about 20 minutes late (shocking, I know) due to all the pregame stuff, so he had to fill it somehow.

I had the headphones on last night while at the game and noticed how Ficorelli droned on by himself in the box all night.
Repetitive and many times way behind goals or scoring chances (and no, there was no 5-second censor delay). At times he'd call a play exactly as the same time something happened on the ice, then on at least two goals by my count - announced the goal was scored more than 5 seconds after the player actually started to celebrate it!
I understand being new to the league, but he's apparently called hockey for 30 years and I'm waiting for that to come through in the broadcasts too.
He seems more worried about his sound and style than the actual substance of the game.

Have the Spirit replaced Warren Holmes for the color commentary? If Rosie's speech was not affected by his stroke, he'd amke a great commentator for the broadcasts.
