Can the Spirit extend their winning streak to 6 games and make it a clean sweep of the 3 games over this extended weekend?? Windsor is coming off a loss against the Soo Saturday night. The Spits sit 2nd in the West Division and are 3rd in the Western Conference behind Kitchener and the Soo. The last and only game so far this season saw Saginaw lose in overtime at "The Madhouse on McDougall". With Neuvirth at the WJCs it will most likely be Andrew Engelage between the pipes for the Spitfires. Windsor also has 2 players at the U17 tourney and another at the WJCs. My guess is it will be Ryan Daniels in net for Saginaw. No injuries or suspensions for the Spirit but sf8 commented in another thread that Mickey Renaud may be suspended for Windsor due to an altercation in their game Friday against London. This has been confirmed on the Windsor Spitfires website. Renaud Suspension: www.windsorspitfires.com/viewcon.php?id=2268 OHL On-Line Scoresheet: www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=14820GO SPIRIT!!!! Happy New Year everyone!! Please be safe if you are out and about this evening.

Sol isn't hurt that I know of. Eric--Sinfield has been out for some time--"hand injury"--unofficial word is it's broken. Back sometime after the New Year. (Duh, since it is 12/31!!!!)

Spirit up 3-2 begining of the 3rd. Windsor ties it on the PP and then Combs scores seconds after to retake the lead.
P.S. Combs OHL player of the week!

Great job by the Spirit! Another good effort to shut down the Spits!
Enjoy NY's Eve tonight, guys--you've earned it. But for GOD'S SAKE STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!!!!!! We need everybody to go for Lucky #7 against London!!
EDIT: Have the Spirit ever had a Player of the Week before? I know we've had a few monthly honors, but I do not recall a POW.

Sinfield's hand is still in a splint, which should be removed this week. He said Saturday night that he has about 2 weeks of rehab after that and then before he's ready to play. With no offense or slight to Combs, his game-winning goal today probably should have been handled by the goalie. Jack's shot was taken from near the right face-off dot and Engelage appeared to be handcuffed in playing it. Puck trickled in behind him. The boys all played hard and deserved the win. Penalty killing today was excellent.

I have to say, after watching another great effort by the Spirit, this is the most disciplined and hardest working "TEAM" that saginaw has ever put on the ice.
After watching most of the games of hockey played in Saginaw, over the last 10 years...
...this is the first season where we have seen consistant, hard hitting, follow thru hockey with alot of effort of shooting the puck and aggressive attacking the net.
As someone said on the NOOF, no team in the league knows what to expect from this team. Each game, they have been coming out and "Taking It To Them" for most, if not all of 60 minutes per game.
Great effort Boys! and may your New Year be even better!
Binque ---
