Great to hear Dennis Desrosiers in the radio booth with Fic. He is obviously doing well health-wise which is excellent news. Yes! He sounds good too. My 3 observations of tonights game. First Ryan Daniels is playing like a God. Second, there was actually a Wave going at the Dow tonight. A weak one, but a wave none the less. And third, and by far the funniest, DISCO STU cutting a rug on the video board tonight. LMAO I almost choked on my pretzel. What a great night! Go Spirit!

Yes, Combs got the goal (on the OHL.com scoresheet). I think Brodie coughed the puck up but made up for it with a great backcheck. I'm sure we'll get a full explanation from someone who was at the game...sounds like an exciting night at the Dow! Exactly correct, aj. Probably the best backcheck of the season for Brodie, especially considering he had to recover from the giveaway. Daniels' save was equally impressive. And then immediately the old saw about "great save leads to goal at the other end" proved true. Spirit looked much better tonight right from the opening puck drop. They played hard and aggressive, and I thought played particularly well on the PK. (Which was nice, since they had several to kill) The lines were all changed around to start the game--such as Taylor centering the 2 McDs--but everything settled back as the game went on. For obvious reasons, our scoring line was re-united. Humourous pre-game moment: Richard Greenop (one of Windsor's tough guys) being told to get back on his own side of the red line by a linesman, after skating over to jaw at noted Saginaw pugilist Tomas Zaborsky............ Defensive pairings were changed up to start tonight also, but Crawford and Brodie were back together by the end of the night. These two complement each other well, and should be fun to watch the next couple of years. The best way I can think of to explain it: Crawford probably doesn't make it back to shut down that breakaway--but he probably wouldn't have been out of position in the first place to give the puck away. Our defensive corps still makes mistakes, but they have improved by leaps and bounds from this fall. Another great game for Daniels. Start him til he loses or until his arms fall off. The puck is obviously looking like a beach ball to him right now--he's making everything look easy. Plymouth up next, with returned U.S. goalie Jeremy Smith, automatically making them much tougher. Can't wait.

A few observations from last night's game.
Daniels was awesome, and stood on his head all night.
Brodie did a great job recovering the puck and leading to the second goal of the night.
SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET THE REFS SOME GLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous how many times WE were called for penalties, and Windsor was not. I saw at LEAST three blatant calls right in front of refs that were not called last night, including a holding/interference in neutral ice that lasted about five seconds. But every time WE sneezed, we went to the box. The referees were pathetic last night.
We played very weak in the beginning, but by the second period we were playing hard again. Ryan McDonough was great last night, and Jason returned (not sure if he played against London on Friday) and he was very solid as well. Brodie played a great game, and Platekus (too lazy to look up proper spelling) was all over the puck as well.
All in all, good result in a game that was lopsided against us due to penalties, one we probably should not have won, and wouldn't have, had it not been for some amazing stops by #20. Congrats Daniels, on a WELL DESERVED shutout.

I agree, and if i am not mistaken 2 of his 3 passes led to goals.

Yes the penalties were 6-2 but only 8 calls with a 2-ref system makes for some great even-strength hockey. Yes there were some missed/unfair calls but there were at least 2or3 calls that I felt should have been called on US that weren't, including the breakaway that Windsor had. I felt like the refs actually let them play a little more last night instead of calling every ticky-tack infraction.

The ref was the same one from the last game (London). I sit right next to where the refs come on and off the ice (zamboni entrance). During the London game did the fans let him have it! I was waiting for someone to give him a beer shower when he looked up and just smiled at them. I agree DJ, he let them play for the most part last night. There was one tripping call on Windsor that should have been called, but wasn't. We won so I'm sure I'll get over it. lol

The Windsor game was Scott Hoberg and TJ Luxmore...

I could have sworn that the London ref was the "Beer" guy who is awful but when i checked the gamesheet afterwards, it wasn't, it was just some other awful guy ;D
