I think there might be something to the players being tired. They have looked tired to me early in games. I don't think Watson gives them too many days off. I know that after this weekend of 3 games in 4 days, they have practice on Monday & Tuesday at SBIA. This is true. I have talked to a certain player from Guelph and he said that they get days off quite frequently. In fact there are plenty of pictures of he and the team out at bars on the weekends, unlike Saginaw who has a 10pm curfew. So what are you saying? That the players should have more days off and a later curfew so they can do more "socializing" and not be so tired for games??? Yeah. Makes sense to me............

With a drinking age of 19 in Ontario and 21 here in Saginaw, I'm sure many other OHL teams across the border have public "socials" on more than on occasion. The good thing about this slump is that the team seems to be in most games right down to the wire. I can only recall a couple of times where they've really been out of the game going into the last ten minutes of play. For a team so young with 21 of 24 elilgible to return next year, plus an influx of new drafts and 2 Euro picks coming, I'm happy with the season regardless of where they finish. My point wasn't of the drinking or bars. My point is that Saginaw has has had like 2 free Friday or Saturday nights while other teams have had plenty more. It makes a difference when you are more rested and have leisure time as well. No matter if your a professional hockey player or a teenager, the human body does get tired if it's work constantly over and over again without any rest.

I think that 10pm for a 20 almost 21 year old is ridiculous. Now for the 16-18 year old...no. They are in high school. And I think the players should have more days off to REST. This doesn't exactly mean drinking. I was trying to make the point of how Guelph gets days to have leisure to do what they please. End of it.

Team curfew is not about age, it's about the team and the players focus on the team and the task at hand.

like I said before, this is getting ridiculous. If a Saginaw Spirit Hockey Player is too tired to essentially audition for NHL teams, go play Jr. B or Tier II and take a nap, seriously, why are we scrutinizing a coach for making his team practice and play games. For the past few years i've been a part of coaching basketball at the high school level. From November through March, these kids have either a practice or game every day plus going to school. I don't give days off because whenever I do, it's like subtracting 3 days because THEY ARE KIDS and need constant repetition. Ask any teacher how productive the day after a snowday is...or the days after xmas break.
the goal of every OHL player is to play in the NHL...do any of you think that is possible without focusing every moment of your adolescent life on it??? You need to practice, work out, study the game, talk the game, etc. at all times or you will lose focus.
Remember that drinking behind the police station happenned during a night off when the kids should have been getting this sleep that they needed so much.
Sorry about the rant

I agree as well. If anything, the struggle is because we have an inexperienced team and they aren't used to the grind that is the OHL. The way to solve that problem is NOT to give them more time off, it's to work them harder, as we are, so next season they don't have the same problem.
Remember guys, this year is a building year, a transition year. The fact that we are in the playoff hunt is remarkable considering how many people wrote us off during the off-season. Go back and read the posts! We should be happy with where we are, based on how upset everyone was back before the season started.
In reality, we're fans, and we'll never be happy. haha. But these kids have played well, they have beat teams they shouldn't beat, and they have us enroute to the playoffs. What more can you ask from such a young group of kids that you all wrote off before they ever played a game???
