It wasn't much of a fight with more holding than anything! Jarram lost his balance at the end and fell. you must have had your eyes closed during the fight because your description is a little off. Yes there was holding but I wouldn't want Peluso teeing off at me ;D As someone mentioned above, yes they squared off (sans helmets) Jarram got the first couple shots in, and then Peluso answered with a couple...they tied each other up for a little bit and then Jarram got a good headlock on him and scored a few shots. Jarram tried twice for the takedown (and probable win at that point) but Peluso wouldn't go down. Since he was stuck in the headlock, Peluso started firing tough body shots (pretty rare for a hockey fight, but effective) and Jarram came out of the lock...Peluso then fired 3-4 big bombs, took Jarram down, and earned the win...solid fight for the new guy hope you enjoyed the description, SSF!!!

I had it scored a draw in spite of Jarram going down first, since they were both pretty slow-moving by that time. But I will certainly bow to don's superior knowledge in grading fights! Good game by the Spirit. Not a lot of hitting, which made me think we were going down, but a lot of hustle for the puck and along the boards, and I don't think as many turnovers as usual. Plus Daniels stopped 40 of 41, and was 4 for 4 in the shootout. A well-deserved first star for him. Once again my theorem holds true: Godfrey= no points tonight, and we won. He truly was not a factor in the game. The Spirit did not give him as much room to shoot as usual (i.e. about 10 feet) and particular kudoes to Brad Smith who I thought really hounded Godfrey every time he was out on the PK. (I wasn't even trying to make a pun, but now that I read that over, I guess I did!) Matt Caria has been a real thorn in our sides since the Soo traded for him, and he scored their only goal tonight. He wasn't a star, but I thought TJ Brodie played an excellent game. He seemed like he was everywhere on the ice, and showed some pretty impressive speed at one point getting back to break up a rush. Big win, and certainly a better start to the weekend than last week. Let's hope it carries over!

spiritfan8 - i actually thought the hitting was up quite a bit last night...still not where i want it to be but the "little guys" seemed to do some last night (muro, swartz, pleck).
my player of the game last night (besides Daniels, obviously)...David Jarram. He made a difference last night, made some good plays offensively, cleared the defensive zone, and the fight was VERY well timed...it was at a point where the tide could have turned and he kept the team and crowd into it.
i could see how you might score the fight a draw...Jarram clearly won the first half and like I said, if he was successful on his takedown attempts, he would have had the W...Peluso just got too many in the end to steal a late round victory.

I agree w/ you on Muro and Szwarz and their line, don, and should have mentioned them. I think Murovich and Szwarz turning into the same player--fast, aggressive and feisty. They both play a lot bigger than they are, and aren't afraid to go into the corners with anyone. Now if only they could score a little more, they'd be perfect!

I am a HUGE Murovich fan. He's very gritty and you always see him fighting for the puck, even when the other players seem to have given up. We need more of the team to step up and play like him.

I too am a huge Murovich fan. Murovich reminds me a lot of a Kris Draper type player. He seems to constantly hustle and is a pest to opposition and the type of guy that everyone should want on their team.
