guesswho, just a couple of points;
If the Spirit make a move that any of us fans disagree with, it's ok to come on this forum and make our complaint known and to discuss it. That is why we have this forum in the first place. Not all of us just drink the kool-aid.
Regardless of whether or not the people who made the decision to close the practices had a good reason or not is not the point of the discussion. It does not matter the reason for closing the practices. The decision to close the practices is not a "fan friendly" decision and that is the source of the complaint.
The decision screams "you're not welcome here", that , in my humble opinion, is not a good way to start the season. While it is true that those who chose to show up anyway were allowed in makes the whole decision to "close" the practice a crock.
What blows me away is the fact that you would post your phone number on this forum. I do not have the time to fully explain how ill-advised it is to post any personal information on an internet board. These boards have a private message feature for a reason. If you don't fully understand why it's not a good idea to publish personal information please supply us with your social security number, bank account number and I would find it very useful if you would also supply you pin number...Thanks.

I guess the only thing worse than giving out your own number would be to give out someone else's with out first telling us who's number you were giving out. After re-reading your post, I would assume the number you were giving was the Spirit office. The problem is, the Spirit office number is 497-7707 so I guess we will all just have to call the number to find out who this mystery number belongs to. I will give you credit for one thing, you sure picked the right screen name because your posts keep me guessing. I would prefer not to have to fill in the blanks, but it is what it is. By the way, my screen name is bpfox not Bp FoX. Just keep your fingers off the space bar and the shift key and you will be ok. Peace.

I don't have a problem with only 1 preseason home game. I think it comes down to $'s. London makes a lot of money on a preseason game with 7,500 in attendance. The Spirit might break even on their game at the SBIA. I think the coaching staff would rather see how players play on the road and I think the front office would still like there to be something special about seeing the team play, and playing exhibition games is really not all that special. Actually I spent some time talking with Todd Watson yesterday at the Blue/White game. He was pretty much in agreement that there should be two home games and two road games in the pre-season. That said, technically there are two "home" games as the Spirit will be the "home" team in Woodstock when Saginaw takes on London. Of course anyone who can read a map will know it's not going to seem like a home game.

Who went to the Blue/White game? I heard there was a scrap. Details please The scrap wasn't much of fight. Can't even tell you who was involved. It was kind of funny though because the refs, who were not OHL refs, were not going to let them fight. Players from both sides were yelling "let them go" and the refs backed away. After a couple of good shots by both players they fell to the ice and the refs broke it up. Both players hugged each other and patted each other on the head before heading to the penalty box. The problem was, the penalty boxes did not have any officials in them. During the game players were given penalty shots in lue of power plays so there was no need for penalty box officials. Larry Coulouris, who has worked the penalty box for as long as I can remember, was in the stands and was called into action. On his way down he was demanding overtime pay for having to work on his day off. Then, for what had to be the first time in history, Larry was let into the penalty box by the player. That to me, was the highlight of the fight.

One of the combatants was Adam Comrie (#24 white) and the other was (I think) Kain Allicock (#31 blue). Comrie was the guy who let Larry into the box.

Ok, now that training camp is over and the pre-season is about to begin, it's time to start cutting down the roster.
Who do you thing cracks the lineup? Obviously Murovich and Comrie are here to stay, but what other 17, 18 or 19 year olds will be new this year?
What players from last years squad don't make this years team? Don't count those who have moved on.
How many overagers are kept to start the season and which ones?
How many 16 year olds make the team? First two picks Pachis and Szwarz are both signed, but the team can carry 4. Will they? And if so, who do you think they select?

To help us answer some of bpfox's questions can someone who went to the Blue-White game post the rosters?? Thanks......
With Murovich and Comrie likely here to stay (agree with you bpfox), my guess is that the only 16 year olds they will keep are Pachis and Schwarz. The others will be playing in Leamington with the occasional call up due to injuries and during world junior tourney time.
What's the rule on OAs now?? You can keep 5 until November when you have to cut to 4 and then January 10th you have to cut to 3?? I know you can still only dress 3 per game. Asselin and Berard are locks IMO. I can't see them keeping Perron around as an OA goaltender. That leaves Mannino and Sinfield so I'm guessing they'll start the season with 4 OAs. Mannino and Sinfield will be fighting it out to see who stays come January 10th.

I also can't see Perron staying here, unless if he plays extremely well. I don't think Mannino will be the final roster, either.

I think they sign Sol and an another 16 year old forward and send them to Leamington. I think Sol looked really good. The Spirit defense looks good for years to come. I have not been impressed with Pachis. He will start the season here but could be sent to Leamington, not likely but could happen. As far as O/As, I think Asselin and Berard have 2 spots and not really sold on Berard. I really think they can do better than Sinfield as an O/A defenseman.
Here is the training camp roster:
Blue Team
Lepera, J G Peron G Ogilivie, Jordan D Crawford, N D Williams, N D Muarsak Vullamere, M D Pacjhis, D C Craig T C Combs, J LW Crawford, Bruce LW he is an '88 played Jr A for Misissaugua, I think he's is going to be the tough guy 6'1" 205 free agent Brodie TJ D McDonough, Ryan C Allicock, Kain LW Smee, Connor LW Diachenko, N RW Clouthier, Andrew C Sol, Cody D
White Team
Daniels, Ryan Zelenbaba, J Sinfield, G Breen, C D Zaborsky, T LW Szwarz, Jordan RW Joel, Roy LW Chappell, C LW Heineman, Christopher D Asseln Comre, A D Fillman, Mitch RW Berard R Colizza, Anthony C Murovich, T C Stewart, Sloan LW Trecapelli, NIcholas D Mannino, T
Jordan Patton was not it camp either is Brad Walch, who I think is going to play in DesMoines of USHL

I completely forgot about Zaborsky. No brainer that he'll be here the entire season. I still think Berard and Asselin are locks and Perron won't be around at the start of the season. That still leaves Mannino and Sinfield so maybe they break camp with 5 OAs, with Mannino being dropped in November. Big question mark in all of this is whether or not they will trade Asselin at some point for picks or younger players. Of all of the OAs he would have the most value in a trade, just how much value is the question. Unless Mannino has changed his work ethic, he might not be around at the start of the season based on everything we have heard and read about Watson's expectations.

Spirit's affiliate is the Cambridge Winterhawks, not Leamington.
Sol is apparently going to play with the St. Marys Lincolns.

Spirit's affiliate is the Cambridge Winterhawks, not Leamington. Sol is apparently going to play with the St. Marys Lincolns. When did the Spirit change their affiliation? They made such a big deal about the Leamington affiliation last season. So if they switched thier affiliation to Cambridge, why not make a public announcement? What's the source of your news about Sol. Watson spoke pretty highly of him at the Blue/White game on Saturday. With the Spirit being pretty thin on defense, you would think they would take a long hard look at this kid.
