Pleckaitis, Paichis, Allicock and Pasquale were all part of the silent auction, so I'm not sure what they went for.

Looks to me like certain people who bid up the prices last year did not participate in the bidding this season.

I think the jersey auction is a reflection of 2 things...
(1) the amount a billett family is willing to spend on their own kid's jersey (2) The prospects that the kid has to go on to the NHL.
last year, we had a ton of players that fell into #2 and in the years prior, I think we had a bunch in the #1 category. I think that both were down this year. When you think about it, our best two players are undrafted who probably are coming back next year to be OA's. If I were appraising the value of jerseys...i would probably say Szwartz should go for the highest.

This certain person did not bid. But the prices were way high with or without me last year. Last year's highest was Nigel Williams, at $2700, and he wasn't even here 1 full year. He was also a showman and helped to get the bid as high as it was.

He was also a showman and helped to get the bid as high as it was. And got in trouble for that too, didn't he?

Actually, no he didn't. That was a big rumor that was going around, but people in the main office said that was exactly what it was--a rumor.

There is no doubt in my mind that the economy had as much to do with the lower values this year as anything else. When the economy takes a turn, charitable donations are among the first things that gets cut back. Lower attendance and lower numbers of season ticket holder fall into the same catagory. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom, but economy this year is not what it was last year. Just look at Ryan Daniels. In past seasons the goalies alway brought in the most money with Ryans going for over $2000 last year. Now we are talking about a NHL drafted player who may not be back next season. Even with the potential for this being "your last chance" at a Ryan Daniels game worn, this year his jersey went for less than half of last year. Like they say in politics, "it's the economy stupid"!

Actually, the billets and real family are generally not the ones bidding at all and certainly not bidding the really high prices. It is mainly fans. Every year I look around the arena and see some of the same fans bidding the most and almost always the high prices.

I know there are a lot of billets that do bid and usually win. Remeber, a lot of the billets are the same from year to year and a lot of them can afford to donate that kind of $$$. I agree the economy has got people clinching their cash a little more, I know I have been. I would say that's the number 1 factor, followed by this years players.
