Well, after last night's dismal performance, it's win or go home (or go play in the ECHL maybe) for the boys tonight. I'm not sure how coach Watson is going to react to the total lack of effort shown by the majority of the club along with the poor performance by Daniels, but whatever lineup he comes up with better do a complete 180 in order for us to compete against a determined Soo squad. Who gets the start in net?? I'd go with Daniels - he's earned it, and nobody is more hard on him for last night than himself. I for one say you give the kid a shot at redemption, because this might possibly be the last time he puts on a Spirit jersey.
Will Murovich be playing this evening? Not sure if he'll get anything more than the game that he got last night, but if the league is looking at the play, I hope it shows what I thought I saw, which was an initial push from behind by a Soo player (didn't catch who). Now I do believe that he still had time to attempt to avoid Juice, so I am not totally defending his actions, but it was kinda nice to see somebody with a little bit of life in them last night.
I sure hope we come out and play like I know we can, or else more people will be taking full advantage of the $2.50 beer specials in order to put up with the type of play we saw last night.

Sucks for us but good call from the league. He never should have done that, it was totally uncalled for. Plain and simple, he's lucky it's only one game. I applaud the OHL for that decision. Flame me if you want.
Does this mean Allicock may get the start tonight? I'd like to see him on the ice.
I say give Daniels the start tonight. I'd be willing to bet that he'll play MUCH better tonight, he doesn't usually have two horrible games in a row. He deserves the start, regardless of last night. JUST GET THE GLOVE UP WHEN THEY SHOOT OVER YOUR SHOULDER!!!!!!!!
Go Spirit!

What about Cody Sol? I think we should pull Ogilve and give Sol his spot.

Agreed, eric, on both the suspension and on Daniels. My bet is Nealy plays tonight, not Allicock.

Neily got decked in the head and I believe had a small concussion at practice.

OK. Well. Looks like it could be Allicock, then.......not that I have any real problem with that.

Other than that losing is never fun, I really don't have a single complaint about tonight's game. In a complete turnabout from last night, everybody skated hard, worked for pucks and gave a good showing. The Soo is simply deeper and more experienced, and it showed. Fic and Rosie said on the radio post-game that they could now say that Combs has been hurt the entire series. Anyone know anything about that? I personally think Wayne Simmonds makes it to The Show before anyone else on the Soo team. Yes he needs to gain weight--he kind of reminds me of a colt with those long skinny legs--but he is an artist, and an excellent all around player. Congrats to the Soo, and best of luck the rest of the way.

Congratulations to all the Spirit players for a gutsy season - not one person in Saginaw imagined a 33-win season let alone battling one of Canada's top clubs right to the end.
For a team that in reality only loses 3 players next year (the Soo could lose up to 13!), its a great sign for the future. Was encouraging to see Watson dress Sol, Pachis, Allicock and start Pasquale tonight as they'll need a taste of the playoffs for future reference.
Excellent season and look forward to September and what should be a very competitive training camp.

Considering the circumstances heading into this season, I'd say the 2007-08 season was a successful one. Tonight we got a glimpse of the future and it looks very bright. This series may go down in the books as a 4 game sweep, but we certainly didn't make it easy for the Hounds (other than Game 3). I'm already looking forward to what will hopefully be a great season in 08-09...should have pretty much the whole team back other than Zaborsky, Sinfield, Jarram, and maybe Daniels, while the Hounds are going to be decimated this offseason (I will not miss Godfrey and Gajewski one bit). My early goal for next season: make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. We're entering our 7th year soon...time for some playoff success.

Congrats to the Soo- very good team - deserving of the series victory. However, I do have to wonder what in the blazing heck was going on with the officiating tonight at least on some level. The third and deciding goal was scored after the Soo gained control of the puck, which should have been blown dead due to Ryan McD. getting plowed behind the goal. However, that play gets to continue and then results in the "non-kicked-in" goal by Simmonds which eventually became the game winner. In no way am I saying that one call cost us the series, but for the love of god, would something please have gone our way?? I'm just very frustrated right now, and I'm sure the 5 months off will allow me to regain some momentum for next year. Good job Spirit on a year that everybody wrote you off on being a loser. See you in August!
