Congrats to the Soo for a good series. The Soo got many of the breaks in this series, but good teams make the breaks and get the bounces. Have you ever seen so many goals scored when the scorer does not even touch the puck with his stick - I think they had 1 in each of the last 2 games (those are the breaks). Winning goal was scored after there should have been a penalty for tripping behind the Soo net. I asked one of the players about this and he said the ref was going to give McD a diving penalty - come on what gives? The Soo was too strong but next year will be a different story guaranteed.
Team played with energy tonight maybe because they were not skated hard the morning of the game like the other 3 games. Why?
Overall the Spirit exceeded all expectations for this year and should bode well for the future.
Pasquale played very well but Daniels was the reason we got this far and it did not do justice to see him on the bench for the second straight year in the last game.
Daniels was the backbone of this team. He was always very supportive when not playing and he is a real class kid and the Spirit are/were lucky to have him.
With all the draft picks both OHL and European we should be able to compete with any team in the league.
I predict like this year that the West again will be much stronger than the East and it will be a dog fight in our division again.
Thanks Spirit and have a great summer.

I agree senspirit that it was pretty crappy that the Spirit had a bag skate before a playoff game.

Did anyone but me see Daniels leaning over and poking Godfrey in the back w/ his glove when he was over there waiting for a face-off? Hilarious! I agree Pasq has promise for next year. And I understand when you are down 3-0 you have to shake some things up. But I too hated to see Daniels spend what is probably his last Spirit game on the bench. We weren't in the playoffs if he wasn't there this year. He's been solid for our club the whole time he has been here, and I wish him a lot of luck as his career continues. I don't know the circumstances that prompted the bag skate. But I'm willing to bet there was a reason for it.

We did play very well last night, had several great opportunities that we created, and things just didn't go our way. But at least we went down fighting. I'm VERY disappointed that we were swept in the series, and I don't think ANYONE expected that to happen.
I also agree that it was sad to see Daniels sit tonight.
FYI, Tyler Murovich was in the crowd by us during the second intermission. He was chatting with fans, had a big smile on his face, and was very good with everyone, including the group of older ladies that was pawning over him. haha. It was cool. Believe I heard him say something along the lines that he was going to hang out in this section because he'll get in trouble if he sits with the other guys. Could be wrong on that though. Anyway, seems like a good kid. I resisted my urge to go up to him, shake his hand and ask him "what the hell were you thinking?" regarding his suspension.
Anyway, good luck to the guys moving on, and I am VERY excited about next year. Would also like to know the extent of Comb's injury, if anyone has any information. Certainly explains his performance.

Yes, the bounces sure didn't go the Spirit's way last night. It's too bad we lost that one. I think we deserved the win more than the Soo at least for that game. The better team won in the end.

One of the classiest moves of the night: Doug Daniels (Ryan's dad) came over to our table in the BLC before the game and shook hands with everyone, thanking us for all the support we've given Ryan during his time in Saginaw. At this time, he doesn't know what the future holds for Ryan's career. No matter where he plays, we wish him the very best of luck. He made a huge contribution to the Spirit's success over the past several years.

I am going to be pretty surprised if he is not the fan pick for Favorite Spirit. The kid has charisma absolutely rolling off him.

I'd love to see Mr.Murovich in a Soo Greyhound uniform next year. As you guys said, we are losing alot during the offseason, Jeffrey-NHL, Simmonds-NHL, Godfrey-NHL, Maclean- current OA Cuthbert- current OA and Gajewski - current OA . So that is why we are going for it all this year. We will be in the same boat as you guys are currently . With a goal of just making the playoffs next year. Lots of talk if Hartsburg will even return? That will be really bad then!! Anyways, nice meeting all you nice Spirit Fans. I always enjoy reading your posts as you guys are truly one of the most respectful fans I have met. Have a nice offseason, and see you guys next season. PS: See you on OUR forum SpiritFan8

Hey ssmghfan--I would say your chances of seeing Ty wearing the Hound next season is about the same as the chances that I will become a diehard Plymouth Whaler fan!!!!!!! Back at ya, and good luck the rest of the way!

Sensspirit - are you suggesting the team was bag skated before each of the play off games...there is no way that happened.

Tuppura you are right they did not get bagged before every playoff game.
They did not have a skate in the morning before the last game so they had more energy for the game.
Ask any of the Soo players that were at the rink watching the Wednesday morning skate if the Spirit players got bagged or not.

We know they did Wed. Watson was very clear in the BLC that night what had happened at practice that morning. But was there any other morning?

It would seem really Bizarre to me that a coach would admit to "bag skating" his team after a regular season and early play off road trip. The last thing they need is to be skated into the ground prior to a game.
Now I am hearing this isn't the first time this series....that sounds crazy. What coach Bag Skates his team prior to a playoff game. No wonder they didn't respond and folded like a cheap suit.

tuppura folding like a cheap suit is a little harsh and I totally disagree. This team did not quit even if they were bag skated. They were in every game but one. If you want to rant on the coach for his practice of bag skating go right ahead, but to suggest that the kids folderd like a cheap suit is not right. The no quit attitude of the team is one of the things that I most admired about this team!!!!!! They exceeded all the OHL experts predictions and were exciting to watch. I don't think they played their best in the last part of the seaon, but folding like a cheap suit-- I personally think not and I don't believe I'm the only one to think this way.
