Also per MLive, Flint has requested a home-and-home series with Saginaw to kick off the 2015-16 season. I think I saw the game in Flint would be Saturday, September 26. Well, this has been proven true. Now, my question is whether I risk going to the home opener in Flint, if tickets are available at all. I mean, to show up at the inaugural game for Flint, cheering for the wrong team, is sort of a jerk move if there are Firebirds fans that could not get a ticket. Then again, it would be pretty cool. Realistically, we could go the Friday night game later in the season or the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to keep the arena list intact. On another note, getting Hamilton this year will be a stretch being a Sunday game. Hitting Hamilton on a Sunday is doable Twinsdad. I go to a lot of Lansing Lugnut games in the summer, and as you may or may not know, they are the MiLB affiliate of the Blue Jays. I have a very good friend that lives around Hamilton and he will text me at noon during the week and ask me if I'm going that night. If I say that I am, he will be there. I have asked if he's going to stay in the area that night and his response is always the same. "Nope, I've got to be to work at 8 AM tomorrow". After the game, he will pack up and go home. Alex Anthopoulos who is the GM for the Blue Jays will also drive down for a night game and return to Toronto in the same day. Not that I advocate that as that travel has to be brutal on you for a couple of days, but it's doable.

Impressive. This guy 27 years old? Live in Genesee Co and on school nights the general rule is leaving Cooley not much later than 930p, regardless of what's going on with the game. And still wind up dragging next day. Hamilton...? Wow

I agree that driving back from Hamilton is doable. Probably will depend on the weather forecast at the time. The 402 from London to Sarnia can be brutal.
Going back to the other question, are any Spirit fans going to try to go to Flint's home opener?

We should all get seats in the section behind the Spirit bench (where available) for a "Dow South".

Me and a couple buddies are planning on being there. Half tempted to wear my Saginaw Wheels jersey as well, but will most likely keep it all Spirit.

The Raincheck Lounge.
EDIT: Checked with a friend in Flint and he told me the Raincheck Lounge closed about a year ago. Apparently it had turned into somewhat of a dive bar.
When we had season tickets to the Generals for two years (just before they moved to Saginaw in the late 1980s), that was the place to go before and after games. The joint had good food and a great hockey atmosphere, kinda like Larry's Lounge in Saginaw was prior to the Spirit coming to town.

If you were planning on going to the first ever home Firebirds game against the Spirit, I hope you got tickets already or you move quickly. Opening night tickets went on sale today and I went to their site about 15 minutes ago, there were about 300 tickets left.

Was fortunate to get 4 together just off Center Ice near the top row. Ticket lady told me that they were near a sell out and that was right after noon. Got Center Ice seats for the other 3 Spirit games being played at the DFCUEC. How the heck do you pronounce that? At least WSR has the WoofSoo, which is easy to say. When ordering tickets, I recommend not sitting too low because sight lines are not good the closer you get to the ice.

We won't be able to go, due to a conflict with one of the kids and their commitments. So we will target the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or the first Friday of December. Let me know where you find to go before the game.
