What is the thinking out there?
What positives were gained this year?
What were the disappointments?
I think a major achievement was getting to the playoffs.
This team played hard game in and game out like Todd Watson said they would right from training camp.
It was disappointing losing in 4 games to the Soo but 3 one goal games ( empty netter game 4 not counted ) to a team that was consistantly in the top 10 in the CHL is quite an accomplishment for a team as young as the Spirit were this year.
The team played over and above against teams that were the cream of the league but disappointed against teams that were on par or lower in the standings.
I think a real setback was when Steve Cook left the team. We seemed to be going fairly well and when he left we slipped for a while. He had the Defence playing well and I think they missed him when he was not there.

Plus: Jordan Szwarz and Tyler Murovich, right from the get-go. Jack Combs' huge improvement Ryan McDonough's rebound to the player of 2 years ago, but better Chris Breen's defensive play Ryan Daniels' play, especially the last month of the season the PP--the first half of the season Only 2 suspensions--1 from the team at the beginning of the season, 1 from the OHL to end it Tomas Zaborski's play--not spectacular, but very solid The win over Plymouth on the last day of the season Hard working nose-to-grindstone attitude almost all the time Making the playoffs fairly easily, and being in the position hunt til the very end
Minus: Losing Greg Brady Dan Pachis--early, but not what we had hoped to see this season Significant injuries to Breen, Garret Sinfield and Jason McDonough Some tough losses, such as the Sarnia goal fiasco and the Windsor goal w/ 0.8 sec. left The chaos over the summer in replacing the coaching staff and the GM (NOT judging the hires--see below--just that it took so long, and I still believe wasn't handled well internally the PK--all season the PP--last half of season losing to Soo in 4 games. Yes I know 3 were 1 goal games, but it's hard to believe we couldn't take at least one game the ice fiasco at Game 2 pre-game music wasn't as good as last year(true, but lol anyway!) ushers that do nothing to keep people from walking around during play
Jury Still Out Don Edwards--need to see a couple seasons of trades/drafts Todd Watson and staff--again, need more time, but early returns are promising Fic
This is all STRICTLY PERSONAL OPINION. I'm sure I could think of more in each category if I worked at it!

Highlights: The 07-08 Saginaw Spirit exceeding this fan's expectations for the season. Lowlights: Not being able to see this team in person. Nice synopsis, sf8!!!
