SSF:
1) yes 2) DVD is 13 minutes long this yr. Same format as usual. I thought it was better than last year's, except I did like last year when the players each said their name and hometown, and they didn't do that this year--just showed pics. Probably worth it just to see Muro score in the SO against Plymouth!! 3) yes
acin:
Basically it is a collection of clips of good plays of several different types--hits, saves, goals--along with snippets of other highlights of the past season.

My Mandarin proficiency has grown by leaps and bounds this year! Now all I have to do is learn to pronounce the words correctly...........

SF8, Sorry, Nicole is Mr. Watson's wife. She actually sits to the right of us during the season. Very pretty lady and nice family! At least now I can put another face with a poster here. You sat down (with your wife?) right after we did. We were in the same row as you just down to your right. The only other poster that I know by face is Disco Stu, who was lookin' sharp tonight in his suit. :-)

Just getting home from the banquet now - had to listen to Fic's wrap up about it ;D lol...just kiddin' Fic.
Anyway, everything pretty much went as predicted with possibly the exception of Ogilvie for most improved (not saying he wasn't, just nobody on here really brought him up I guess). The night was fairly long, but not because of big speeches by the players, but it had more to do with the setup and discussion between the awards.
I thought the highlight video was very nicely done, and I'd like to personally thank Jim Biewer for giving me, my fishing pole, and that rotten stuffed whale some air time, as that did bring a chuckle from most in attendance.
Class act of the night - Ryan Daniels near the end coming up to the mic and thanking everybody for his time here, as it is very uncertain that he'll be back in a Spirit uniform next year. I was thankful to get a chance to personally wish him well and I told him I hope he isn't back and to make me have to come travel to an AHL arena with my Spirit jersey on to see his next game. Same thing for Combs, though I expect there is a greater chance that we'll see him back next year, which will certainly help the scoring situation.
Scary sight of the night - both Disco Stu and BPFox dressed to the nines ;D Just kiddin' fellas, you looked marvelous (in my best Billy Crystal voice)
Congrats to Mary and Bernie for being named this year's most dedicated fan(s), or whatever that thing is called. You two deserve it - wish I had the time and $$$ to make nearly every road game on top of the home ones, but until the world begins to pay math teachers more like pro athletes and athletes more like the rest of us, that might never happen..lol
All in all, at the end of the night there was a much different feeling in the air towards what is to come in 08 - 09, than what was the case at last year's banquet. I'm truly looking forward to seeing how much this large group of returning players can achieve with this positive year of experience underneath their collective belt, and am encouraged by the fact that we'll have two new import players amongst our other draft picks that will fill out the roster.
And while I'm no writer by any means, I'd like to end with a brief poem if I may:
And so my friends, another year has passed us by I'm sad to see it end, I can not lie Near the bottom of the barrel, the prediction by most 33 wins overall, I think that calls for a toast A team so young, yet hard working one and all Against the best of the OHL, they rarely would fall The playoffs came, and the boys showed no fear Into the arena we came, and got bad ice but cheap beer (WOOHOO!!! ;D) Though this series was as short as our captain Ryan It surely wasn't for lack of effort, or simply not tryin' The boys gave it their all, until the final horn sounded Three 1 -goal games, we certainly did not get pounded And while we didn't win it all, we can think back on the past That this was the year, we made dreaded Plymouth finish LAST!
Here's to you boys on a great year, and I look forward to seeing you from my perch in section 18 come this fall.
Brian

Nice job, Brian, and I echo donzz--now I know who you are! Agree totally about Daniels--very classy, and I surely hope things work out for him. It is always bittersweet to hear a guy who is (probably) leaving sum up his last few years. They come in as boys, and they leave as young men--probably more rewarding to watch than the hockey, speaking as a parent of sons. And donzz---well, I guess my cover was blown last night when 3 or 4 people stopped me to ask if I was spiritfan8. (Pretty scary when you think about it!!) I always worked to keep my posts gender neutral, but I really can't have you thinking I was sitting with someone else's wife!!! Yes, it's true. Spiritfan8......is....female............(And I knew his wife's name was Nicole--it just went right by me. Very nice appearing lady, and she must sleep well at night--if not very long--running those 4 kids to and fro!!)
