What does everyone think about the goaltending situation in Detroit? I'm sick of seeing Hasek get paid $8 milion for playing 14 games. Is it possible to pro-rate the money for how much time he spends in net? Why not forget about him and stick with the 2 that have given their all to the team. I'm no fan of Cujo, but he has been playing pretty good since the recall from Grand Rapids. How about Legace (the best goalie in the whole wide world)? I heard he may end up going to Philadelphia!! I know that would probably be better for him in the long run cause then he could get some playing time, but I love the Wings and think this is a great team for him if they would just let him play more. What is everyone else's take on the situation?

The goaltending situation will work itself out. I for one would rather have a healthy Hasek in net rather than Cujo. I have nothing against Cujo. I think the Wings will keep him for the rest of the season and thru the next. I really don't believe that the Wings will re-up on Hasek's contract after this season if he even plays next season. Therefore, the Wings will be back to two goaltenders. Legace isn't going anywhere as far as I've heard. Where did you get that info? They will continue to have three goalies until Hasek is healthy enough to play to his potential. If that happens before the trade deadline then it may become a problem for the Wings. Wings most likely trade Cujo at that point. I don't think it will happen though.

I heard about Legace from our forum moderator a.k.a. The Referee.

I think it was being said that they (Philly) were interested in Legace salary-wise, but are also interested in Hasek skill-wise. If I were the Wings, I'd prefer to keep Joseph as my starter, Legace as my backup, and trade Hasek. Here's my idea - how about sending Hasek back to Buffalo where their goaltending hasn't been the same since he left. I am sure we could pick up a draft pick or two (2nd/3rd round?) and even a young prospect or two.
However, more possible would see Hasek going to Philly for draft picks &/or prospects.

It would be stupid to trade Legace. grrrrr. Ken Holland has said that they will keep all three, but you can't believe most of what Holland says since he doesn't want to tip his hand if he has a trade in the works. Though we probably could get half of Philly's team for some pizza, so imagine what we can get for one of the goalies! ;D I understood why they signed Hasek, they didn't want him to go to another team, but it has been one big mess since. I was happy to see him back since I had good memories related to having him in net, but have been very disappointed with the injuries that have kept him sidelined. It would be nice to keep all three since Hasek's contract is up after this year, that way we will still have a goalie for next year if there is even an NHL season next year. Its quite a mess though. :-\

I too would be shocked/disappointed if Manny was traded. About Hasek, DO NOT TRADE HIM. Knowing the Wings' luck, they will trade him and he will make a remarkable recovery and play even better than he did in 2002. Also, I don't think Joseph is going anywhere. Holland himself has said so (If I remember correctly). After his contract is up, Manny is definitely deserving of the #1 spot. I think he has more than proved that he is capable of being the top goalie.

WOW!!! Nice to see so MANNY people like my favorite goalie. ;D As for Hasek, I hate him, always hated him, and always will hate him. If I was making that kind of money, I'd be earning it. Is there really any reason why he can't play with ANY discomfort? How come nobody else reaggrevates their groin this much? Perhaps he should keep his hands off it. ;D

Manny is super nice. Of all the players that I have met, he has to be one of my favorites. I swear he must have thought my sister and I were crazy, but he just so nice. I have the coolest picture of him: members.aol.com/Yzerbear19/Legace2.jpgI really hope that the Wings don't trade him. He is a classy guy and so nice.

Newfan77, do you realize that a groin injury is the worst injury other than broken bones and torn ligaments that a hockey player let alone a goalie can have. Do you remember Brent Gilchrist from a few years back. The injury that kept him out of the line-up for two years was a persistent groin problem. I really don't think Hasek expected to have this problem when he came out of retirement nor is he faking it. You shouldn't hate him for that. IMO he is the best goalie ever. He didn't get the same opportunity to play for the teams that Roy and Sawchuk played for until he came to Detroit. He showed what he was capable of. That's the goal of every player on the team right now. I think Joseph can take them there too. He had an unfortunate playoff run as did the rest of the team last season. Legace has the potential but won't get the chance this season with the other two goalies. Anyway, we'll see how it all pans out in the coming weeks.

I was being a little sarcastic. ::)Sorry if you were offended by that. As for not liking him, it began way before this injury. Aren't there any players that you "just don't like" around the NHL?

Spirtfan75.... One word.... QUACK!!!!! You brought it up Newfan77, oh there is a list as long as George Carlin's list of words you can't say on TV, of players that Spirtfan75 hates! Starting with the entire Colorado roster!

I was not offended by your comments. I really could care less who you don't like and do like. If you hated him before he was a Wing then I guess you have the right but he hasn't given me a reason to hate him as a Red Wing. Anyway, enough of the pointless bickering.
I hated Brett Hull before he was a Wing. I wouldn't want to see him on any other team now. As for players I currently "hate"... Peter Forskin, Joe Kissa**, Alex Tan-Gay...
The player that I hated the most though was Patrick Wahhhhh. (The sucky part about that is that he's a shirt-tail relative.)
