I would imagine that the CHL will have a very similar reopening plan. The only more difficult aspect is the border. I think the teams would be able to cross as an exemption, but would require a 14 day quarintine. Would take some tricky scheduling to make that work.

I could see the league adjusting the schedule to front load away games for the US teams. There is no question that this season is going to look different. How would you feel about the home opener being in late October, or early November?

I can live with pretty much anything, if it means there IS a home opener at some point.

Sounds like this is what the QMJHL is doing...
*October 1 start date *60 game schedule *Training camps start end of August with only about half of the normal participants *League is re-aligning into 3 divisions of 6 teams each; all games are against divisional opponents *Fans in the stands still TBD

I would expect that the Spirit will play this season but it won't be in Saginaw. I'd bet the three US teams will be housed in the Toronto area for the whole year. That will result in some scheduling issues but it seems likely that this is the only way the US teams can play this season.

Perhaps a season of 34 games against each Flint and Erie. Or big maybe, play the 5 US based teams from the WHL.

Saginaw relocates to Chatham (Go Wheels), Flint to Leamington (their affiliate), and Erie to Brantford (well within the Midwest Division footprint). Super easy travel for everyone in the West Division except for the Greyhounds, who are gonna get screwed on travel if the OHL brings everyone into Canada, unless there is realignment. (Obviously just spitballing and this probably won't happen)
I bet the 5 U.S. WHL teams will only play each other and never enter Canada all year until the playoffs if the league allows the players to go to their respective cities.

You forget that all OHL teams act as one and they will not craft a different agreement for the 3 USA based teams. Patience will allow for a full season with people in their own rinks. Let go of your October timeframe as it is not realistic. Assume that the folks in the USA will finally start wearing masks and following some protocols and basically get their poop together. Aim for a Jan start date and a later season ending in July.

Probably safe to say at this point that the season won’t be starting on time.
