Spirit will pick 15th (would have been 16th if not for Niagara's shenanigans) after the first ever Draft Lottery. I believe it's a "snake draft" for those familiar with fantasy sports so they'll pick earlier in the 2nd round if they even have a 2nd rounder. Sort of good and sort of stinks at the same time...had we played, we would have had the last pick in the 1st round because we would have won the title so in a way, we actually are getting a higher pick than we probably deserve. On the flip side, we missed two of the best playoffs (maybe) in franchise history so to only be picking #15 after trading so many picks in the last couple of years seems like a downer. Regardless, DD and Lazary have been finding high-quality players in the regular and import drafts so hopefully they'll keep that up. I know for a fact that one of the rookies on the team this year (that didn't play) was ONLY coming to Saginaw so if he got drafted by another team he would have gone the NCAA route so that's very cool for us since it used to be the other way "anyone but Saginaw." Looking forward to the fall for sure!
