The Spirit exercised the defected player rule within the Ontario Hockey League with 2020 first round pick Adam Fantilli, and have traded his playing rights to the North Bay Battalion.

Very good for the Spirit...will help with the rebuild...we should be very strong again in a 2-3 years when all of these young guys develop to be good stars for us or good trade pieces for experienced players. Too bad we couldn't get him to report but good that they were able to take advantage of the rule and gain an additional 1st rounder.
