The Spirit kicked off the season in a big way last night. Let's hope they didn't use up all of their weekend goals in that game. Niagara beat Flint last night so they'll come in with some confidence.

Tonight's game is the first time an Eastern Conference opponent has visited The Dow since Saturday, February 29, 2020 (8-2 Spirit victory over Hamilton).

Was it my imagination or did the Spirit just roll three lines out there all night?

Tristan Lennox... either he has never fully recovered from his injury, or... 10 goals in 100 minutes of hockey does not bode well for his future. But zero defense doesn't help. I could see if he was in preseason form, but he was at Islanders camp.

I could see if he was in preseason form, but he was at Islanders camp. The Spirit gave up 13 in 2 games and on the overwhelming majority the goaltenders had no chance. I love lazary as a coach but at some point you have to play some defense and it doesn't seem like there's any room for it in his system. We could get away with it when you've got guys like bode wild and Millman and others back there but those guys aren't in the lineup anymore. Mintyukov is a great defenseman but he's joining the rush almost every play and then you end up with someone like Gervais or macnamara back on defense and you're screwed at that point. If this team is going to compete they need to give defense a much higher priority.
