Best game the team played in weeks tonight. 6-2 over the Soo. And a big congrats to Zayne Parekh who both tied and then broke the OHL record for most goals by a rookie defensemen (and I think did it in far less games as well). I think it's important to point out that Zayne broke the record for a 16 year old. There are many players who don't break in as a rookie until they are 17. It's a small, but distinct difference.

I’ll go out on a big limb (low risk) and say that Zayne Parekh will be the best defenceman in this league 2 years from now.

Zayne Parekh was chosen in the OHL Priority Selection draft with the compensatory pick they got when they declared Adam Fantilli “defective” when he chose not to report. Taking the flyer pick on Fantilli appears to have paid off. Kudos to Dave Drinkill.

Big win in Owen sound tonight! This team is doing all of the little things well and if they keep this up, we'll have a successful second half despite the tougher schedule. Lennox in for all 3 wins so I'm guessing oke will spell him in Missy... Hopefully the team keeps up the scoring because we have the goaltending to win games.

And the Spirit complete an amazing road trip with a 3-1 win over the Steelheads today. They did what they had to do offensively and got great goaltending throughout the trip. It's still going to be an uphill climb against the top of the conference (London, Windsor, Sarnia) but we showed this week that we're clearly the #4 team and that's OK in a year that we were supposed to barely sneak in to the playoffs. Home ice and a first round series win would go a long way for this team heading into next year. Wonder what the naysayers are saying on Spirit Nation after winning three straight against solid teams on the road?

Andrew Oke stole that game today. Great road trip. Now it gets tough again at home against North Bay and Sarnia this weekend.

Went to the game today and I think that may have been the best Oke has played in the OHL up to this point in his young career. Made a couple of highlight reel saves and also stopped a penalty shot in the 3rd period. I would hate to see the offensive zone time because it heavily favored Mississauga, but we took advantage of the opportunities we had and got a big two points. I saw Misa on the concourse during the 2nd intermission taking pictures with young kids. Still on crutches but seemed to be in good spirits (no pun intended).
