Adam Sturgeon was drafted by the Richmond Riverdogs of the UHL today in the UHL Amateur Draft. He was taken in the 1st round (of 6) #7 overall. If I checked info correctly.....I believe Sturgeon's new team will be playing Flint Gen's April 9th in Flint.
Close enough to go watch.

Because he signed with them does that mean he can't come back to the Spirit? Is he considered a "professional" hockey player now? How much money do players in that league make? Is this team associated with a NHL team? Will he lose he school package because of this move?

I believe the pay in thet league is around $250-$300 a week for rookies. There are only a couple of NHL affiliations in the UHL and only a handful of players from the UHL ever make it to the NHL, & then only as role players.

Adam Sturgeon's team (Riverdogs) won tonight 6-0. His first game with them. He had a +2 for the night. Way to go Adam!

Actually, Adam could return to the OHL from the UHL. Same rules apply to any "pro" player who has junior eligibility, meaning he meets the age criteria. The exception to this is a signed player from the NHL who plays beyond the deadline to be returned to his OHL team (Rick Nash, last season at 18). And remember the gift that Kitchener received last year from Washington...pro players who still have junior (age) eligibility can return to junior if they choose. Most minor pro leagues stay away from 19 and 20 year olds because they respect the CHL structure. Hope this helps.

wow, way to go adam, keep playin that way, especially when they go to flint....i was in flint tonite when they played quad cities...wow, just like to say QUAD BEAT FLINT !!!!!yehaaaaaa  it turned inot one of "those' games..i'll post more about it tomorrow. |

ok, flint was playin quad cities,from what ive seen when saginaw was in the uhl they are good. they have a huge beautiful arena(quad) . they got mega sponsors. ok, so i was rooting for quad. they are better han flint when it comes to standings. well flint comes out with kevein kerr, yu all know kevin right...lol...he comes out hitting and banging, stick between everyones legs. quad scored once in the first period. nothing in the 2nd, midway thru the 3rd, flint fans figure if ya cant win, play dirty...so it begins, well thier big star by lds goes down, hes very hurt, not moving..fans just totally freak out, its not like you couldnt see something bad going to happen. ok, he gets up, robbie is freakin out at whoever is available, refs, other players..etc..so the fans are saying "bring out the big boys". i knew what they meant..and robbie did..so flint gets a 5 minute penalty(misconduct) robbie gets booted,,hahahaha.so then the fans decide to yell at the goalie.trying to get him rattled..then the fans start "you suck" im not sure who sucked but the ref, the other team, the other coach, who knows was thier target..9 minutes left, quad scores, 849 quad scores,so one of flints guys want to fight with a guy on quads bench, he gets a penalty. 557 quad scores again. some flint "fans" leave. at 235 flint finally scores..well it seems saginaw is the talk of flint lately, i was gettin a pop and i wasnt wearing a spirit shirt, so i just kinda hung there trying to listen w/o looking like a spy.. he said it dont look like garber kow what he is doing...maybe they should worry bout there own building and team. and i thought i read or heard somewhere that they were making improvements in the arena,,where?  i tried to lock my bathroom stall, no lock on 90 % of stalls...popcorn is dreadfull, their own fans say that...they didnt know i was a saginaw fan...hahahah, browniesnumber1fan is a spy....really flint , worry bout yourselves.. |

Wow, How Fantastic! Adam's team (Richmond Riverdogs) won against Flint Generals 7-4. Adam got his 1st assist and was +4 for the night. Wow! Way To Go Adam!
