The Syracuse Crunch (the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) have reduced their roster for the opening game and Geoff Platt is still on the team. During the last preseason game the announcer said "there was no way they should send this kid down." I guess they were right. Geoff has had a great preseason. 7 goals in 4 games in the rookie camp. He score more than Kvapil. And a goal in all the preseason games with Syracuse. The last game he had a goal and two assists. I glad to see he is doing so well. There are people in Saginaw that have bad feelings for Geoff but he did his job when he was here and was always good to the fans. His only crime was wanting a trade. When the "fit" isn't right players ask for trades all the time (McDonough). We should be glad that a player from Saginaw is making a name for himself. Everytime they list his prior teams Saginaw's name is always there. Good luck to Geoff and any former Saginaw player that get to "live the dream"

There are people in Saginaw that have bad feelings for Geoff but he did his job when he was here and was always good to the fans. He was a good player but once he realized it his head swelled up to big. I don't think he he did his job the whole time he was here. Remember towards the end it was the away team verses Geoff Platt, not the Saginaw Spirit. His ego was HUGE!! Which then resulted in tempertantrums from him and after being sat a couple games as disipline thats when he went crying to daddy and they demanded he get traded. I miss his skill on our team, but not the attitude. I think it was better in the long run for all involved that he was traded.

Geoff is obviously benefitting from the new emphasis on clutching, grabbing, etc. However, he will need to improve his defensive play if he ever wants to make it to "the Big Show". He would do well to watch the likes of Jeff Carter and Mike Richards to see what it's really going to take to make it to the NHL.

If only he would stop that diving.... What diving? He was really tripped , hooked , boarded , sneezed on. Do you smell that? It's real fresh sarcasm. ;D

Geoff had a hat trick last night. He has 6 goals in 5 games. His team is coming to Grand Rapids for two games Nov. 4 and 5. Hopefully we can get to see him

why in the world would you "hate to be the one"? It's great for Geoff and Saginaw should be proud of him. Every time his name gets mentioned so do the Spirit. If he plays in the NHL he will be the first Spirit player to play in a NHL (regular season) game. The main purpose of the OHL is to move players to the NHL. Saginaw helped Geoff make that move. I have followed most of his career and I don't believe he has ever said anything bad about Saginaw so why should we. I even think he comes back to see his old billets. So let the bad feeling go and be happy for the kid. Hope some young kid sees that a person who played for Saginaw made it to the show and want to come here to play. Thar's what it is all about.

Preseason does not count as an NHL game played. Especially if you are talking stats.

Other players, including Geoff, have played in preseason NHL games but he is the first to play in a regular season game. Great to see him out there.

I still don't like the little dive queen. I liked him the first year he was here but then his head got to big for his helmet. I guess I should congratulate him though for reaching his goal. I know the NHL guys will put him in his place if he tries to pull some of the crap he did while with us.
