The very first radio game I listened to, Flache got into a fight that lasted FOREVER. Greg Brady kept saying "and they're still going at it." I was hooked on the radio since then.

He used to fight the big Dman from Plymouth every game and they both threw bombs. No wrestling, just throwing. I don't recall the Whaler's name but he was from Downriver Detroit and playing in the ECHL last I heard

For me this is easy. Pyatt. He has been the teams best two-way player, leading scorer, leading goal scorer and one of the teams hardest workers. No one else compares in completeness of game as he does.

When I say "bonafide" I mean a player who spent the majority of his junior career in Saginaw. In Pyatt's case he spent his entire junior career here.

Peter Flache - under rated and under appreciated Well. this is hijacking a thread big-time, but.....Guess who was on the other end of my phone line when I picked it up yesterday? None other than Peter Flache. It turns out he is engaged to a girl he met while playing here (would that be our first "confirmed Spirit romance"??)and through one of those "mother's sister's brother's cousin's" things, wound up at the home of one of my bosses yesterday, helping him to clear some land. The boss noted he is a good-sized guy, asked him if he worked out, and the talk led to the Spirit. The boss essentially told him he knew the biggest Spirit groupie of all time, dialed me, and put Peter on the phone. To say I was a little surprised when he ID'ed himself is certainly an understatement. He is on his way to Dayton, where he'll be playing for the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL this season. I told him he was fondly remembered by his fans (coincidentally, this thread was only 3 days ago) and he said the feeling is reciprocated--he enjoyed being here and wished he could have been here when the team got better. And that was my "cool thing" for a Saturday afternoon.........

I played some adult league hockey with Peter in Bay City over the summer. Real nice guy and still followed the Spirit after his days here were over. I always thought he was one of the faster skaters we ever had. And his last name was sweet, lol.

ESPECIALLY when he thought he might have a chance to get in a fight! He wanted to be a tough guy SO badly!!!! Birner was a great pickup from Barrie.

No kidding, I've seen Costa at the Dow on occasion, I just thought he was scouting or something. I knew he was involved with the Dayton team.
