Why? Protecting one's true feelings and agenda is the same for any person in any line of work. You can only be so publicly honest about how happy you are, how much you like your boss, etc. Age and money being made is irrelevant. Again, in case you are missing the logic, I was hardly comparing their "situations" and lot in life, I'm simply pointing out that any athlete or coach isn't going to be able to "spill it all" whenever they feel like it. If Ryan Berard didn't want his true feelings "made public" then why did he tell you (or tell someone else who told you) about it?? By bringing it up in in this thread you have now made Berard's true feelings (according to you) public. We all know that players, parents, billets, team officials, newspaper reporters, and the like read this forum and the NOOF all of the time. When you log onto this forum you will typically see a number of "guests" who are only reading what's posted and not posting themselves. Right now as I post this there are 3 registered users and 6 guests logged on. I seriously doubt those guests are people in the tri cities who just happened to find the Spirit forum while web browsing and decided to read what was there just for fun. It's like I always tell my wife "if you want something kept secret you better keep it to yourself". SSF - This is exactly why I haven't posted the details of this incident! Why give Constantine the dirt...however, maybe he will quote me..."DonJohnson told me that..." |

Id rather discuss things like how good player A looked and how he gelled with player B
What we got to look forward to in the week to come etc. but lets start a new thread and bury

He was kicked off the team and was involved with two younger players in an off-ice incident on Saturday. Anyone who suggests I was starting rumors is off-base. I agree with the moderator that no one should know anymore than that. But what I wrote was exactly what the Saginaw News finally did write a couple days ago. Ryan Berard deserved better from the organization but he made a silly mistake. That's that.
As for some of you getting ticked at me for the Berard trade rumor. See it however you like. Agree to disagree, I guess that's part of life. I'm not going to get caught up in a personal battle. I have it on good authority he and Asselin both wanted out, among others. Some of you "say" you know for a fact, something I never ever did, that Berard was pleased as punch to be in Saginaw. I won't change your mind, you won't change mine. If the truth comes out that he asked for a trade, some of you owe me an apology. Really. I'll gladly accept it. I was more than willing to move on.
As for my bashing of the team, I love the Todd Watson hiring. I don't like the Don Edwards hiring. After all he was their third choice, and a panic move, and the choice of no one else after being canned in Oakville at a lower level. Again, sue me. Who have I bashed besides ownership which looking back just a bit, seems to take their lumps here regularly. I loved last year's team and hope I can say the same about this year's less talented version. I took issue with one person who I thought was suggesting that last year's team took a lot of nights off. You don't post the wins and dominant ones at times that the Spirit did doing that. They also were riddled with injuries to McNeill, Sinfield, and someone else I can't recall after Corrente was traded, so Cody Bass had to play D. Sometimes they were outworked, but this team this year will have a lot of nights like that. Hope I'm wrong and I watch them get in the playoffs and win a round. That's all I've got. Moving on.

I agree...time to lock this thread up. I've actually now heard 3 different stories about what happened and when it happened and it's just a big merry-go-round. Whether we know it or not, it's time live with what we know that Berard has likely played his last game in a Spirit uniform, and end it at that.

I agree. I again question midlandpucks' motives. He/she is supposedly brand new to this board only joining about a week or so ago but has done nothing but bash the team and spread falsehoods. I don't know who you are and really don't care but I can easily tell that you think you have inside info that is for the most part factually untrue. I know this for fact and won't explain how I know. What I really want to know is what is you beef? The real beef, not the cover story. I am with you here 100% Frogger! Whoever 'midlandpucks' is, it sure sounds an aweful lot like another know-it-all who frequently changes his name & login info on this board. I have no doubt that 'midlandpucks' has been around here for QUITE some time. It's the same M.O. that this other person always used, the posts sound the same, etc. It is actually kind of funny tho. I can almost predict what every response to every post from him will be. |
