Okay, maybe I'm getting old and need some sort of "Ears 2.1" upgrade but I could barely understand anything that is being said over the PA. The sound system in the Dow has never been the same as it was before the renovations. Not having Simoni systems (they're right here in Saginaw and have done places like the Palace and Pontiac silverdome, cobo hall etc...) do the sound was a huge mistake that they have been paying for ever since.
Is it just me?

It depends on where you sit. From what I can tell, if you're in the lower part of the upper level, center ice, the sound seems to be okay. I think because the speakers are like pointed right directly at you. But I don't know, I don't have too much trouble with the sound there, but I know a lot of people complain about it, so maybe I'm the odd man out. lol.

It's quite possible that you're getting the good sound. Anyone can hang some speakers in a building, the complexity begins when you need to distribute that sound evenly around a facility such as the Dow. If I see more posts that the sound is bad, I'll write a letter to the Dow event center, not saying it'll do much, but at least a formal complaint.

I like my music loud, always have always will, but some of the ear bleeding loud noises that are heard through the PA system at the Dow makes me want to bring ear plugs some nights.
Oh and being pelted by one of the old time 5lbs mircophones from the catwalk isn't so fun either.

I know a bit about sound as well - not so much in a BIG room like the Dow, but in smaller places like concert halls/nightclubs. I know one thing, throw in some low end on that system! The high end is so ear piercing & they have to keep turning it up louder to hear it, but they could add some low end to it, give it a fuller sound & actually make it quieter, yet easier to hear!!!

Trust me, with Lynn Roberts on the mic, be happy you're having trouble hearing.

Lynn wouldn't be so bad if the sound on the PA was equalized better. That's where the "add some low end & drop some of the high end" statement came in. They could cut back her mic dramatically & it would sound more full if only there were some low end in the PA.

Actually Lynn did really well on Saturday night, for the entire first period. It wasn't until the first intermission that she forgot, yet again, that the microphone is intended to amplify her voice, therefore eliminating the need to yell into it.
But oh well. I don't think the PA is that bad. Go to Plymouth. There's sucks.

While I will agree 100% plymouth's sound system sucks, ours is headed in the same direction. SGF, I agree, I think a lot could be done with simple work on the mixing board. It is very high.
I don't mind the loud music at all, in fact, I say the more rock'n upbeat loud music the better, especially with the laser light show. I noticed they played Du Hast by Rammstein the other night.
My big complaint is, with all the "on ice" presentations (there have not been any this year other than the ceremonial puck drops) I can never hear the BS they're sputtering off.
I was upset because I was trying to hear what the story was on the kid that did the puck drop the other night, I picked up bits and pieces but not the whole thing. I know it was a players younger brother? I think, and he had a life threatening disease , was he cured? Couldn’t hear all of it.
As for Lynn, I can barely take her voice on the radio, let alone in that huge arena. Nice gal though.

I don't deny Lynn is an awesome girl. Very friendly, great personality for Z93.
Those of you having trouble with the sound, where are you sitting? Because seriously, I've never had trouble understanding people. I'm not being smart here, I'm very curious as to where in the building the sound is this bad. Are you on an end, down low by the glass, etc?
