i hope edwards knows something otherwise, what a waste of a pick. The kid sounds pretty good though, here's hoping he's got an spirit eagle on his sweater next season!
also, i'm thinking plymouth had a little shadiness to them...they got Jon Merril in the 3rd round...he was the #5 prospect on HockeyProspects...i'm guessing the agent/kid/parents said he was only going to report to the Whalers...he played for Detroit Little Ceasars.

The article on Parker said that he verbally committed to college for the 2010-2011 season, so maybe we will have him for 2 years.

I'd be very surprised if there isn't an arrangement for Parker to come to Saginaw. If he was committed to the NCAA, he would have been take in the middle rounds at best.
Given the need for good young forwards, you don't take flyers in round 2 when looking to add depth for the next two years.
Time will tell.

Here's the news article regarding the draft: www.mlive.com/saginawnews/sports/index.ssf/2008/05/saginaw_spirit_gambles_during.htmlIt sounds like it wasn't a typical draft for us where we normally have 1-3 guys in the lineup the following year playing as rookies. Despite the "gambles," it seems like they are both really good players and it sounds like we'll see them both at some point. I liked where the article said that the second rounder's family is originally from Michigan. I think that will definitely help since they most likely have either other family or good friends that are living here to help make the move easier. Enjoy a wonderful Spring Sunday!
