Kitchener tops Gatineau 6-5 in OT. The Rangers were wearing some new uniforms for this game only it looked like.

Round Robin Game 2: Saturday May 17 Belleville vs. Spokane 4:00 PM EDT
Mathias scores for Belleville to cut the Spokane lead to 3-2.
EDIT: Tanaka scores for the Bulls late in the 2nd period to tie it up at 3 apiece. Belleville has come back from a 3-0 1st period deficit. 3 goal leads are not safe so far in this Memorial Cup tournament. Kitchener blew a couple of 3 goal leads in their game against Gatineau yesterday.
EDIT: Tanaka gets his 2nd of the game to give the Bulls a 4-3 lead about half way through the 3rd period.
EDIT: Bowman with a hat trick ties it up for Spokane with just under 3 minutes to go in the 3rd period. Looking at another OT game potentially.
EDIT: The fans get their money's worth for the 2nd game in a row. All tied at 4 going to OT.
EDIT: Spokane wins it 5-4 in OT about 4 minutes in.

All games in a short round robin tournament format are big but the next 2 games at the this year's Memorial Cup are even more important than usual.
With both teams currently at 1W-0L in the round robin, the winner of tomorrow's Kitchener vs. Spokane game will have the inside track to earn the automatic bye into the championship game.
With both teams currently at 0W-1L in the round robin, the loser of Monday's Belleville vs. Gatineau game will be in danger of not even making it into the playoff round of the tournament.

Round Robin Game 3: Sunday May 18 Kitchener vs. Spokane 4:30 PM EDT
Spokane wins it 2-1 so its very simple for the Chiefs. Beat Gatineau on Tuesday and they get the #1 seed and automatic bye into the championship game.
Current Standings: 1. Spokane 2W-0L 2. Kitchener 1W-1L 3. Belleville 0W-1L 3. Gatineau 0W-1L

Round Robin Game 4: Monday May 19 Belleville vs. Gatineau 7:00 PM EDT
Turkewicz just tipped in a Nigel Williams shot from the point to give Belleville a 5-3 lead with about 4 minutes to go in the 3rd period.
EDIT: Nigel Williams scores a PP goal to make it 6-3 Bulls with just under 2 minutes to go.
EDIT: Bulls win it 6-3 with 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd period. Former Spirit d-man Nigel Williams was the 2nd star of the game with a goal and 2 assists. Former Spirit forward Jan Mursak also had a goal in the game.
Gatineau must beat Spokane tomorrow night to ensure themselves of playing in the "if necessary" tie breaker game. A loss and they pack their bags to go home. Spokane has already guaranteed themselves the automatic bye into the championship game. The worst they can end up is 2W-1L. Either Kitchener or Belleville (not both) will end up at 2W-1L and Spokane owns the tie breaker against both of them having won their round robin games against both teams.
Current Standings: 1. Spokane 2W-0L 2. Kitchener 1W-1L 2. Belleville 1W-1L 4. Gatineau 0W-2L

Round Robin Game 5: Tuesday May 20 Spokane vs. Gatineau 7:00 PM EDT
So much for Spokane "tanking it"!! They beat Gatineau 3-1 tonight to send the Olympiques home. There will be no tie breaker game. Belleville and Kitchener play tomorrow night to decide which team will be designated the home team and get the last line change when they meet again in the semi-final.
Current Standings: 1. Spokane 3W-0L In the championship game Sunday 2. Kitchener 1W-1L 2. Belleville 1W-1L 4. Gatineau 0W-3L Going home

Belleville earns the "home team" designation and gets last line change in Friday's semi-final. They beat Kitchener tonight 4-3 in OT.
Final Standings After Round Robin: 1. Spokane 3W-0L In the championship game Sunday against Kitchener-Belleville semi-final winner 2. Belleville 2W-1L "Home" team in semi-final 3. Kitchener 1W-2L "Road" team in semi-final 4. Gatineau 0W-3L Going home

Semi-Final: Friday May 23 Kitchener vs. Belleville 7:00 PM EDT
Who cares about having the last line change!! Kitchener leads 4 to zip late in the 1st period. I don't think the Rags are going to blow another big lead in this tournament. They have blown three 3 goals leads during the round robin.
EDIT: Azevedo makes it 5-0 Rangers early in the 2nd period. Barring a miracle comeback by Belleville, it will be Spokane and the host Kitchener Rangers playing for the Memorial Cup Sunday afternoon.
EDIT: The route is on!! Justin Azevedo gets his hat trick to make it 7-0 Kitchener late in the 2nd period.
EDIT: The Rangers route the Bulls 9-0. It will be Kitchener and Spokane for the Memorial Cup on Sunday. Congrats to the Bulls on a great season. I would give anything for Saginaw to someday be in their position regardless of the outcome.
