Hope all is well and everyone is having a good summer...
Since May we have been working on a major overhaul of Saginawspirit.com that should really add to the overall appeal of the site.
Anywho, with the recent thread featured on thenoof.com, I figured I would post some of the new features we are working on below.
There will be a calendar style listing of games, month by month, on the home page
The conference standings will also be on home page
The alumni and prospect pages will have a special ‘wikipedia’ like feature that will allow fans to upload their own content and updates on their favorite alumni and prospects. Often our fans follow our former and future players more closely that we are able to with our current resources…so this is a fun and interactive solution for us! FYI – the content will not be made available for public viewing until approved by a Spirit web administrator.
We are heavily tweaking our program book for next season as well. Although the changes will take forever to explain here, many will love the changes as we will have the same up-to-date stats as before, but with fresh content every weekend. Some of this content will also be rotated onto the website as well.
We are also tweaking our fan zone:
Picture scrapbook – the goal is to have team uploaded pictures after every weekend home series. Fans will be able to upload their own ‘spirit related’ photos to the scrapbook, such as group shots, poses with their favorite players, pictures from away rinks and road trips, etc. Although they will not be made available for public viewing until approved by a Spirit web administrator.
Video highlights – We plan to upload goal scoring and other highlights after every weekend series. Pending quality of away game footage obtained from coaches, this section may feature some away game highlights as well. Lastly, the team will be working on some non game related video to showcase on the website, such as player interviews.
‘Podcasts’ – the team is working on having broadcasts of a weekly radio show and daily updates available for download following their original airing.
Downloads – Our goal is to have at least one new computer desktop background every week. In addition to calendar themed and player themed, we are currently working on backgrounds featuring ‘famous’ moments in Spirit history…similar to the ‘frozen moment’ feature on NHL.com
Blog – We are working on a blog that will feature thoughts from the coach and the captains of the team. Our goal is to have at least one update from each person every week.
Ofcourse, we are always open to ideas...so if there has been some feature that everyone is craving, please let me know and we will most definately consider it.
