Good for Nigel. I know a lot of fans were not happy with him by the time he was traded, but nobody can deny that this kid has all the tools. It's just a matter of learning to use them the right way. Best of luck, NW..............

Couldn't agree more sf8!! I have to believe if he had stayed at Wisconsin there is no way he would have signed an NHL contract by now. I'll bet he has no regrets about his decision to leave and come play in the OHL.

Nigel has a goal and was +2 in his pro debut for the Lake Erie Monsters, as they defeated Jan Mursak and the GR Griffins 4-3 in OT. Jan was held off the scoresheet. Nigel's goal was a 50 footer to tie the game late in the third. I'd be willing to be he ripped a laser past Daniel Larsson!!

Nigel was traded to the Rangers over the summer. On paper, it was an odd trade; Williams led Lake Eric in D scoring as a rookie, and was the #3 prospect in the Avs' system. He was traded for a 28 year old career AHL guy who looks to be a 5-6 defenseman at best. There is some speculation that the Avs need somebody who could play now (it's going to be another rebuilding year for them), and God knows they have made some bad trades over the years, but still. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out. At any rate, Williams is on the Hartford (AHL) training camp roster, along with two other Spirit guys--Chris Chappell and Tomas Zaborsky. (Would have been 4 had Tom Pyatt not been traded to Montreal). I hate having a reason to follow the Rangers! Williams' new rating is #11 in the Rangers' system--probably a reflection of the fact that the Rangers have drafted much better than the Av over the last few years.
