Spirit worked the whole game, as evidenced by Jarusek's deflection for the hat trick w/ only 7 seconds to go--congratulations, Richard! It was off a laser of a shot by Sol.
If I'm Sarnia's coach, I'm pretty disgusted with m team right now. They had a very young (not quite 16) golie in due to illness, and his teammates pretty much hung him out to dry. Usually in that situation, you see guys busting their butts to block shots, keep flies off the goalie, etc. I didn't see anyone on the Sting even look interested until midway through the third, and then it was only useless scrums. Of the 7 goals, 2 were deflections and one was on a 5 on 3. Perhaps with some effort from the rest of the team, the score would have been closer.
Not that I feel bad for them--I was in attendance for the 11-0 pasting they put on us last winter. As far as I'm concerned, we still owe them a few losses.
For the most part, I really like Watson's coaching, but I've got to ask this: WHY, with the score 5-1 going into the 3rd and a totally uninterested Sarnia team on the ice, would you not get a period in for Joe Lepera, if for no other reason than to give Eddie a few minutes off? Sarnia's young goalie was in tonight because of illness. If anything happens to Eddie, that is us.
Hopefully tonight's night off will serve as Conrie's suspension, but who knows how the league will see it?

ANOTHER SMALL CROWD for a SATURDAY night! /quote] Yea, too bad it was a small crowd, people would have seen a good high scoring (for the home team) game. I sure hope Eddie is alright. I saw the trainer out there a couple times. The one time it looked like he got hammered pretty good. It's also nice to see Guelph lost. We just have to figure out a way to beat Windsor. I hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving! Go Spirit!

I'd be perfectly happy if we finished third in the conference this season. Overjoyed, even. Barring some sort of unimaginable collapse, Windsor has a lock on the division, at least. Unless maybe they will break down psychologically now that Bailey isnt coming back from the Islanders.........(joke)

Same here SF8! It would be almost impossible to catch Windsor. What did you think about the Nick Trecapelli fight? I thought he looked pretty good. It was great to see some of the guys in there that we don't see very often.

Trecapelli was the only Spirit I gave a clear win in his fight, although none of them got slaughtered. (fortunately, Devin Didiomente is no longer with the Sting!) It ws especially good to see guys on the PP that ususally don't get any time there. Which brings me right back to my earlier comments on Lepera. I heard tonight that Szwarz hs been playing with a injured right hand, so we should probably be grateful he didn't unload on his fight partner like we all know he is capable of! Props also to Combs. He'll never be a great fighter--his center of gravity is too high!!--but he never backs down.

Does anyone know why allicock has been out of the lineup?

nope...we didn't need him last night since sarnia doesn't have any major fighters but as we continue winning, there's a need to have him there so people don't take runs at our skilled players.
in similar news, i recently read on the noob that there may be a lot of toughness "for sale" this season. Obviously we wouldn't be interested in Fletcher coming back but there are a number of other guys that could probably overachieve (like Jarram did last year) and provide some value to the team. We'll see if anything transpires. BTW, this isn't even a rumor, i'm just throwing it out there.

Does anyone know why allicock has been out of the lineup? I was wondering the same thing. I saw him walking around the arena. I was thinking about walking over to him and ask him why he wasn't playing but I have a bit of a cold and laryngitis.

I just found out that he dislocated his shoulder in Barrie and is hopefully expected to be back next weekend but has to wear some kind of protection for his shoulder if he plays.

Sorry to take that personally, but the lower part of Section 21 is pretty active also.
