With Tye Felhaber and Keaton Middleton leaving for the under-17 World Challenge, the Spirit will be playing shorthanded this weekend. Not necessarily an issue up front but with Spirit only having 6 defensemen right now, unless they acquire someone before Saturday they will be playing with only 5 defensemen. And that's a big problem. And moving a forward back is not the answer. They are going to struggle with a full roster against the Soo and Kingston, let alone being short a defenseman.
Management needs to step up and get someone in here. If that means trading Paterson or someone else, do it. But don't put your young players in danger of getting injured by having to play too much.

I am sure they will have someone in by Saturday night.

I don't think playing with 5 D is really that big of a deal in the short run. The 3rd pair of D takes what..... 2-3 shifts per period? They only play two games this week, both at home. I have seen many games played with only 4 D. It is not the ideal scenario, but far from devastating.
