I check that site out every once in a while but there's absolutely nothing on there anymore. I know DiscoStu posts some stats on there from time to time and maybe they still use it for the noof paloozas planning if those still go on. Are other teams just posting on local boards like we have or has interest in the OHL started to wane across the league?

I look at Hockey's Future. hfboards.com. They have lots of different sections including an OHL section. Good stuff there and much better organized than NOOF ever was. Each team has their own thread in addition to overall topics.

I tried getting on the NOOF a while ago. Never got a reply. Went to HFBoards. I like it. Even outside of OHL talk, there's a lot of places to talk about draft prospects every year.

I gave up on the NOOF a long time ago. Never liked how it was run. Felt like every time I posted an argument, the NOOF Admin guy would always be sending me a message telling me to tone it down.
To me, the NOOF was at its peak during the Windsor Spitfires glory years earlier in the decade. Heaven forbid you ever posted a game thread on there that wasn't Windsor-related at the time. Maybe that's why it's slow now.

And during this time, it was mostly London vs. the OHL in the discussions. Kind of like SEC fans not seeing the bias within the college football system.

Some people have tried to say that with the emergence of stuff like Twitter, that message boards are unnecessary. I would disagree, because message boards allow people to get all their words and opinions out and aren't restricted to gimmicky stuff like a limited number of characters per post.
I think the main reason why the board is suffering is that the admin has seemed to disappear, and because the admin has to approve memberships (a holdover from the old days when everyone and everyone wanted to sign up), only the people who have been around for years can post and get involved.
Basically, we need a new admin, but who feels like stepping up to do that?
Most of the posts were about London or Windsor because those teams do not have strong team-only message boards (or they didn't at the time) and those teams were the most successful.
We lost a die hard chunk of NOOFers when Brampton moved. Their attendance wasn't great, but they had 5-10 really loyal posters, and most of them have vanished. battalionfan888 has moved on to Guelph and he still posts.
I never got any warnings from the admin (when he was around). The only time that was close was when I was needling about the post totals being removed from view, and that was only because I was bored, and because 15-20% of me has to be annoying at any given moment, as the people I went to high school with (donjohnson being one) can attest. I think I didn't get whacked by the admin because I don't throw a lot of mud and am otherwise not very controversial, but I totally get why being and doing those things can be constructive to a message board built around the concept of having an argument (the main one being my team can beat up your team).

I got banned from the NOOF many moons ago for posting something disparaging about the Avalanche (during the heyday of the Wings/Avs rivalry) and when I reposted it on here, GensFan gave me Post of the Week. I re-signed up with a different name and a few years ago tried to contact the NoofAdmin to try to reinstate my donjohnson name on there but the emails bounced back and the PM's were never answered.
I've always much preferred this board anyway especially when the "Bill" guy makes an appearance under an alias and bpfox goes postal on him. That hasn't happened in a while so unfortunately we've just been talking hockey. Give GensFan all the credit in the world for keeping this place civilized and while there's arguments here and there, it usually doesn't escalate and it makes for a good place to follow the team.

I would ask SagGens if posting links is okay, but since this is a thread about the NOOF I will just do it. A longtime NOOF poster (who has been involved there since before even me and that is before 2003) has gone and set up a new board. The new board is at www.thenewnoof.comThis new board was set up because the old one had seemingly no active admin. I even post from time to time about getting the ball rolling on finding a new one, and because the current admin doesn't send me a message or post or even remove my post, I figure the old NOOF Admin is long long gone. The mod for the new NOOF posted a link on the old NOOF so people could follow it to the new board. Then the old NOOF Admin deleted the post, which is super puzzling. I get that posting the link isn't necessarily cool, but he did it because the consensus was that the NOOF Admin was long gone. Keep in mind that I never saw this alledged post, but if the mod for the new NOOF tells me he posted it and it got yanked, then I believe him. Anyway, I am going to do the best I can to promote the new one because I want to keep this movement going. Don't get discouraged by the registration process either, know that there is in fact a living breathing human being on the other end of the line on this new board. The mod was and is one of the more frequent, clever, and funny posters on the NOOF, so I think his plan is to have lively discussion. I promised him that I would do my best to promote the new board. Keep in mind that anything team specific should be discussed here, of course. I don't want to divert traffic from here.

One of the benefits of the new NOOF is that it allows new posters. New posters sometimes come from new cities. Cities like Flint. If you know of anyone who is going to be on the Firebirds bandwagon or you run into anyone in the next 6-8 months or so from Flint and they enjoy online message boards, could you please encourage them to join the NOOF? There they can discuss the OHL with fans from all of the OHL cities in a fun and constructive environment. I also plan to bring back NOOF-a-Palooza when we can get enough people interested. The site name is easy to remember. It is www.thenewnoof.comThanks!

I will be joining. Been on my to do list. Thanks for the reminder.
I just went on the old NOOF and no one has posted there in nearly 2 weeks. Guess it really is dead.
