Saginaw heads into game 2 down 1-0 in this best of seven series. The talent and age gap caught up to the Spirit last night. Add in a great goalie performance by the hounds and you get a 5-1 loss. Getting the firs goal tonight might help boost the guys' confidence. Let them know they can get past Halverson. Still not an easy task.
GO SPIRIT!!!

We are now in the Soo. The boarder crossing guy thinks the Greyhounds are going to win tonight by a score of 10 to 0. I told him that there are special rules in effect for tonight's game. Only 18 year olds or younger can play. He thought the Soo could still win. I said you would have to play the whole game with just one line. We only lose two guys. I like our chances.

Hounds making a statement. They lead 4-0 after 1 period.

Well, the boarder crossing dude might be right. Not gonna win when you're outshot 24-3 in one period & take umpteen penalties (6 to their 2). Gonna be a long night. Maybe Dave-O plays the 2nd & 3rd for a little experience.
***EDIT: YIKES! 27-5 on shots after two. THREE shots on goal in the first & only TWO shots on goal in the second? Unacceptable! No matter WHO they are playing.

Anyone know if Sadowy is playing hurt? Not even hearing his name during the game. MAYBE once or twice... just doesn't sound like he's much in the play. Not hearing Stephens or Bennett's names either very much.

What a JOKE ! An ABSOLUTE JOKE ! Being the youngest team in OHL history to make the playoffs is a joke? A team mainly comprised of 17 and 16 yr olds going up against a slew of first round talent and not winning is a joke? What were you expecting exactly? With what the Soo's roster is, it's almost like we're playing an AHL team. You thought this was gonna be close?

I'm sorry my frustration with this orgnazation is very high. "Rebuilding" every other year is very frustrating.

I'm sorry my frustration with this orgnazation is very high. "Rebuilding" every other year is very frustrating. Here's what I don't get. I don't get where this "rebuilding every other year" stuff comes from. From my count this is only the second rebuild and it's the first time it's being done right. This is what a one seed vs a fifteen seed looks like. Our guys are playing hard and more important, they are not giving up. And even more important than that, they are still playing when by all accounts they're season should already be over. Yes, last night's game was a men vs boys type game in every sense of the word, but our boys are gaining experience. That has real value. Don't lose sight of the fact that the Spirit are still playing and Plymouth and Windsor are not.

Will Brown be suspended for his fight last night or does the 10 fight total just apply to the regular season? He is now at 11 total fights.

If right now is only the 2nd rebuild what do you call the 07-08 through 13-14 seasons? I think that's the frustration fans have. The franchise should have recovered from "going for it" in the 06-07 season a few years ago. Now here we are again waiting. Don't get me wrong, as long as their is good quality hockey I will be a season ticket holder but unfortunately most fans don't think that way.

Even if the term "rebuild" hasn't been used every year, every year we keep hearing things like "next year" or "this team is building for two years down the road". I understand the idea of buying and selling at the deadline, but average fans might not and even for those of us who do it is hard to watch fan favs get shipped off mid season every single year for almost seven years straight. To this day I am shocked Saad and Shalla finished their careers here. And I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but can anyone explain to me how being outshot three to one is good experience? Is playing four games and getting beat solidly all four games really the kind of playoff experience that anybody needs? (Let's hope that they can stop that scenario from happening with a win or two back at Home.) I also don't understand how anybody can brag about this team making it to the playoffs 9 seasons in a row. 80% of the teams make it every year. While that means it isn't really that impressive to make it into the playoffs, I will acknowledge that the odds of nine years straight work out to roughly less than 20%. Slightly impressive, but kind of a weak bragging point. Now the telling number is how many of those series we have won... one. 40% of teams in the league make it to the second round in any given year. So the Spirit have cracked the top 40% once. I don't have the actual numbers in front of me right now, but I believe we have roughly won 1/3 of our playoff games. While that number tells of a team that at least plays slightly competitive once we get there, it is absolutely not the numbers of a winning team or numbers anybody should be bragging about. I love this team, and every team Saginaw has ever put on the ice in that building, but it is becoming increasingly hard to justify spending money in a struggling economy for increased ticket prices every single year when this team has continually stretched the definition of the word competitive. *Edit: They passed into the second round three times. I know this. I blame it on the drugs, because I'm too awesome to just simply screw up facts.

How do you get once? Beat Guelph twice in the first round and Sarnia once. I count 3 trips to the second round IIRC, including taking London to more games than any other OHL team a few years ago.
