Ok, so where are the Saginaw fans sitting for the game in Flint tomorrow? Thinking about making the trip down again but curious where everyone else is sitting. Looks like a TON of tickets still available!

We are looking at going too. Besides figuring which section, any thought of where to eat? Also, is there anyway to legally avoid $10 parking? I wonder if the church across the street charges smaller fee.

We're sitting in Section 11, Row J, Seats 5-6, which is at Center Ice behind the players' benches. Same exact seats we had when we had season tickets to the Gennies back in the late 80's.
Haven't found any restaurants as yet around the arena that seem suitable, so we're eating at Uno's in the Birch Run Outlet Mall on the way over. Rain Check Lounge (aka Perani's) used to be the place to go, but they closed over a year ago.
We paid the 10 bucks on opening night because that is where we always entered the parking lot in the past(off Lapeer Rd.). Was told that they only charged $5 if you used the entrance on the street that goes north-south at the west side of the building (S. Averill Ave.).

I wonder if the church across the street charges smaller fee. Might try Olympic Grill at corner of E. Court and Center (just north of arena off of Center). Convenient distance to the Dort. Family-style diner (i.e, no drinks, sportsfans). Starbucks in the strip mall across the street and - if you're up to schedule on your Crestor - a Halo Burger next door. Or, if you want to go a little further north on Center, there's Starlite Coney - a sponsor of the team. No Michelin 4-stars, but you get the drift

I can say that the parking lot on the west entrance off Averill Ave is also $10.

Any idea why the referees wouldn't at least look at the potential third Spirit goal? I don't know if it went in or not before the Flint goalie was plowed into, but they could have lest looked at.

I wondered that too. My only thought is perhaps the referees were very confident that the puck went off the elbow or glove of the Spirit player after it rebounded off the post (the initial shot hit the post).

I see they still haven't found the volume control on the PA to turn down the volume there yet... my ears were ringing like I just left a heavy metal concert. Couldn't even carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to me without yelling & having to repeat myself 10 times! They NEED to fix that! Oh, and it was nice to see them pad the attendance there as well... no way were there as many people there as they said! And $10 to park in THAT parking lot is ridiculous! Next time I will park at Target & take my chances walking over.

Remember--tix sold, not butts in seats. The Spirit attendance is always way over, also...

Was at this game and agree - they still haven't figured out how to work the PA system or the new scoreboard. But questioning attendance figures...?

Can we put this to rest once and for all. Please Pay Attention. Others have said it but it hasn't sunk in yet. Attendance figures have nothing to do with attendance. Let me repeat that, Attendance figures have nothing to do with attendance. I'm pretty sure it's the use of the word "Attendance" that is throwing you people off. I'm sure you are thinking "Attendance" means butts in the seats...it doesn't. Never has, never will. If it helps, let's call it Paid Attendance. No, wait, that will throw you off track as well because it includes the words "Free Seats". That might lead you to believe that the seats were free. It might to remember there is no such thing as a "Free Seat". Maybe this will help. If somebody gives you a ticket, that's a free seat, but someone had to pay for that seat, just not you. If you decide not to use that "Free Ticket", it's still "Paid Attendance" and that ticket is counted in the total. If that isn't enough to make your head hurt, try this on for size. Let's say every single ticket was sold and every single ticket was used. I mean everyone who bought, or was given a seat showed up, the arena would never be full. There would still be empty seats. That's because there are always people walking around, buying stuff at the concessions, going outside to smoke, using the restrooms etc. At the end of the day, it does not matter what the number is. The only seat that matters is the one I'm sitting in. Just a little side note. I have been a season ticket holder since the beginning. This year they put my name on my seat. I hardly ever seat in my seat and I am yet to sit in the seat that bears my name. The only game I have missed in the last three seasons has been the education day game. If you look at that empty seat in Section 18 you might think it's just another empty seat, it's not. It's bought and paid for and the person who purchased that ticket is in the building and while the seat is empty, it is still counted in the attendance figures. I am now done with this subject. I've done all I could. If you still don't get it, well that's just something I am going to have to learn to live with.

Excellent explanation. Thank you. Not sure why so many don't understand this, and why we keep discussing attendance anyway. Who cares? As for the Spirit, there has been no sign they're going anywhere, quite the contrary actually, so who cares what the attendance is?

Who cares what attendance is??? Are you serious? Unlike major sports who receive millions of dollars a year in TV contracts as a major source of revenue, junior hockey (as well as most minor league sports) live and die as the turnstile spins. Sure there are corporate sponsorships/advertising that are a big part of the equation but to think attendance isn't important is just plain crazy. How do you think we ended up with an OHL team in the first place? North Bay was struggling to get people in the building, Plymouth was struggling to get people in the building and are now in Flint. Do you honestly think owners are willing to lose money just to keep us entertained??

Do you honestly think owners are willing to lose money just to keep us entertained?? Yes...it's a combination of tax savings and charitable giving (in Saginaw's case at least). Flint is probably a different story but it's still tax saving for the guy from Florida and gave his kid a chance to play in the top junior league
