Saginaw Gears dot com is (finally) up and running. Anyone who played for, worked for, rooted for or boo'ed at the Saginaw Gears is welcome there! It is NOT a "stats." site- it is a fun site, a time machine, a way to call back those days. We're still in the building phase, so we're looking for people to interview, photos that you took that you'd like posted (as long as they don't... ya' know... suck.) almost anything that will add content. We're even interested in your personal stories about some of the fun you had at the games. Currently in work is an interview with, none other than, one of the Gears enforcers, Kurt Walker. That should be up this week. Of course anyone having any questions or comments can also post them here on this thread. I was a season ticket holder of the Spirit in their first season and even listen to the games on the Internet. So- there's no reason why you cannot be fans of both the Spirit and the Gears. Drop by www.saginawgears.com and do some reading- it's FREE and there is nothing to sign into or to sign up for or register for. You just go, read and have fun. We'll be adding lots of content in the years ahead.

Good idea to give the gears a website. I remember my dad telling me stories about the team and how he was at the Dow (wasn't the Dow back then) when they won their last title. That's what got him interested in hockey and he pasted it on to me.
We should always remember how hockey in Saginaw got started. Without the Gears, theres no Spirit.

Well visit the site and do some reading!
FYI- having grown up with the Gears, yet having been away for the Generals, Hawks, Wheels and Kumber Kings I had always wondered if hockey would ever take hold once again in Saginaw. I saw the clubs that followed had made mistakes in marketing and building a fan base.
Then, the summer prior to the Spirit opening, I was visiting Saginaw and walking through the mall saw a Spirit table set up. I bought a shirt and a hooded sweatshirt. Later I got season tickets for my dad. In mid season I went to a game and my only thought was "Man, are they doin' this RIGHT!" They had the whole thing goin' to max out the fun for everyone.
