Folks, can we please dispense with the continual bashing of Chris Ferguson on the Spirit Talk forum? We are good friends of the family and young Chris is a very nice young fellow. Just because he didn't have the talent, or whatever, to play in the OHL, he shouldn't be subjected to the ridicule he has received in this and previous threads on this board. Perhaps such comments should be directed toward the scout and GM who drafted him (32nd overall). In fairness to them, Chris put up very good numbers in minor midget (helped along by playing on the same line with Jordan Staal).
Chris and his family still follow the Spirit and read posts on this board. How do you think they feel when reading stuff like the above? BTW, he is playing Junior C in a small town near London.

johnt...sorry if i upset you. I'm not poking fun at his ability, just a similar name.
I've always given the players names that sound like celebrities, funny characters, rhyming, etc. (Jerry Sinfield, Dave Chappell, The Gimbleeeet Brothers, Fliggy, Zack Taquito, and my personal favorite Gorgeous Borges).
I am totally sorry but I do caution you about reading message boards, they are typically not "feel good" reading since more often than not someone is expressing an opinion about something/someone they don't like.
edit: I did a forum search on Ferguson and much of the bashing came from the midlandpucks guy who holds the record of the only person banned from this forum.

Thanks for the explanation, DJ. Puts your earlier post in perspective. I want to make it clear that I don't have a personal issue with anyone who has posted negative comments about Chris (or anyone else) in the past. I'm sure that the others feel the same way as you. Just wanted to point out that a 19 year old kid (and his family) shouldn't have to read such comments about himself. Chris gave it his best shot to play in the "O" and it just didn't work out. End of story. No sense continuing to document the situation.
