The Spirit play game #4 of their current 5 game road trip tonight in Sudbury. Saginaw is 1-1-1 so far on the extended trip away from The Dow. Saginaw defeated Sudbury 6-4 back on November 23, when Ryan McDonough scored 3 goals and 2 assists and Parker VanBuskirk got the win.
The Spirit come into tonight's game with a record of 20-17-3-2 (45 points), while Sudbury is 10-30-1-2 (23 points). The Wolves have lost 5 in a row (including a shootout loss) so they'll be hungry (no pun intended) for a victory. Saginaw is still 5 points ahead of 9th place Owen Sound with 3 games in hand, so I think we're still in fairly good shape after Wednesday's tough-luck loss.

Spirit have played uninspired hockey thus far. Sudbury's 3rd goal was SH. It does not sound like a 19th place team vs a team fighting for a playoff spot. Let's hope they can put a few in the 3rd period! GO SPIRIT!!!

I just saw the score for the Erie vs Windsor game. 6 - 0 Erie in the first period. Wow!

You know what, I was going to make a prediction before the game that the Spirit would lose - because I am NEVER right, so I was going to use the reverse psychology thing. Guess I should have... so on that note, there's no way we come back & beat Sudbury. No way! ;D
Wow, did you hear Fic - I think he's ticked at the Sudbury people - said that information is at a premium there (scores around the league & whatnot) & that they feel like they were abandoned by the host team & shown no hospitality - or something along those lines. Wow.

Spirit lose in OT, 5-4. Zaborsky took a bad penalty. He had at least 2 tonight. Not very smart. Oh well, nice to get the point on the road. Hopefully can get 2 tomorrow night in Barrie to wrap up the trip. 1-1-2 on the trip so far.

The call on Zaborsky's penalty seemed a little soft from where we were sitting (cross ice), especially because it was OT. Not the best played game by the Spirit tonight. Hope they do better against Barrie tomorrow night.
Bet you folks wished you were up here. Supposed to reach -13 degrees F tomorrow. Walk back to the hotel (3 blocks) was brutal. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Edit - talked to one of the players' dads in Barrie. He had a better view of the Zaborsky OT penalty and said it definitely was a good call, albeit a little soft for OT.

Brings back memories of last year's trip, john--minus 35 (F.) the night we were there and I had no desire whatever to know what the wind chill was!!! I remember that three block walk like it was yesterday--seemed more like three miles!!! And the most important question--did The Wolf appear?

Yeah, the beloved wolf is still at Sudbury Arena. Looks mangy (sp) as ever. Also had some guy standing a few rows behind us that howled every time the Wolves scored or made a good play. The renovations that they made at the arena added a few suites (and all new seats), but now you cannot walk around the entire arena. As for the temperature up there, at least last year we "warmed up" in the hotel lounge after the game, right? This year, we went straight to our room and watched a replay of CSI Miami. Old age, I guess.
At least we got rid of the hound at the Soo, even though the PA system still "barks" when the Hounds score. Still don't understand why they didn't bring the hound over from the old arena. He (she) was part of the ambiance in the old Soo Memorial Gardens.
