He has left the team. And apparently will not be replaced.

For what reasons.

Maybe he figured he'd make more money simply being at the top of the hill in Vassar??

Part of it is that his family is in Barrie, and his wife is expecting their second child shortly, according to sources...... But WHY is everything ALWAYS so incredibly hush-hush around this organization? If he is gone--announce it! The defense certainly looked like they missed him yesterday...............

the info on here is true, he left to be with his wife who is pretty close to having a baby.
I'm sure one of the reasons it's not announced is that no one (besides the people on here) probably knew his name...for most casual fans i talked to he was the "big asst. coach".
Also, i know that the team was not really happy with him quitting...they understood the need to be with his wife but were pretty ticked that he took the job in the first place with that in the background. I don't think he shared that with the rest of the group is the impression I got.
Finally, I don't think they intend to bring anyone else along, Todd and Kisil have been together a while and I guess they feel they'll have no problems running the show minus a guy.
I'll miss him because I always thought that if there's a big brawl and the coaches start yelling/climbing around the glass that we always had him to intimidate since the other two coaches are pretty little.

But WHY is everything ALWAYS so incredibly hush-hush around this organization? If he is gone--announce it! I don't ever recall the team ever issuing an announcement that he was hired? Why would it matter if an announcement is issued that he has left? Best of luck to him in his future endeavours - regardless if a press release is required or not!

We ran into Steve many times while following the team on the road. Most of the time it was before the warm-ups. He was always very nice and would stop to talk with us for several minutes about the team. Just a genuinely nice guy. We'll miss him. Agree that his huge presence on the bench gave one a sense of security. Kinda like when Rosie was our coach.
Best of luck, Steve.

I thought that Steve has been doing a very good job with the young D that we have.
I would speculate that there were other problems that led to him leaving, but I may be wrong.
He knew what he was getting into when he agreed to be the assistant coach in the first place so maybe there is more to him leaving than just his wife having thier second child.

Perhaps since the Owners aren't very big they hate tall people and only want Watson and Kisil so they can look at them eye to eye.
seriously...why speculate when it's already been confirmed on here that the reasons are true?

"confirmed on here that the reasons are true"
Interesting...I heard "other" reasons....we'll leave it at that....no need to start rumours.
I will say that our young D were progressing tremendously and he will be sorely missed...as well he struck me as being a pretty calm. collected influence on our young players.
He was a pretty good guy to talk too prior to the road trips as we always ran into him in the malls.
