I am curious to find out who actually picks the star for each game.
Ther have been a couple of games that I recall that the announcers as well as the home selection have differed from the OHL game sheet so who has the final say ( no that it will be the end of the world whoever is chosen ).
I know that there have been a few that questioned Jaraam getting a star in the Sarnia game.
Lets go back to the Ottawa game. Why was Comrie the first star? Sure he scored a goal but what else did he do for the rest of the game to warrant getting not only a star but a first star?
If we look back to that game I'm sure that the name Swarz came up repeatedly and I think that he should have been one of the stars for this game.
Jaraam was the other player that played a very good game with another goal and seemed to be in the action at most times.
Sunday was a total embarrassment and no Spirit player should have been a star.
With that being said wherever you go in this league you always get a home team player being a star no matter what the outcome of the game.
So we may as well be like the rest of the OHL and recognize who we they feel is the best Spirit player even if the opposition has 12 players who had better games.

Jarram actually played a pretty strong game vs. Sarnia. He ended up with a Goal and Assist. The other Sarnia players you could give the 3rd to are Arniel (4assts) and DiDiomente (2G, 1A) but those were all scored during junk time when the game was well out of hand. I do not have a problem with Jarram getting one, he has played a lot better hockey (for a tough guy) over the last week. Surprisingly, i'm also going to disagree with you on the Ottawa game. If I had to do the stars, i would use the same three people but would list the Ottawa Goalie (1), Comrie(2) for scoring and solid defensive game, and (3) Pachis for his 1st OHL goal. Swartz's name was mentioned a lot because he kicked the crap out of someone. He really didn't do anything special to earn a star. I'm sure you're going to give me some minus points but i'm going to call you out if you generalize in your posts. If you say someone "shouldn't be a star", say who you think should and give evidence to back it up. I'm sure others will agree that it's not enjoyable to read posts that say "the team stinks" while a post that says "the team stinks BECAUSE we're 0/10 on the PowerPlay in the last week and our goals per game is down 1.5 during that stretch." It's not that hard to do some quick research to support your points...but, on the other hand...sometimes it feels good to vent too (note:sensspirit, this last part isn't about you, it's in general)

Stars are picked by the game day staff workers who work up on the 3rd deck, where the statisticians are.

Hi Guys Bill from the Spirit Actually, the stars are picked by our either our broadcast team, our beat reporter or someone who actually knows hockey....NOT our game day employees... I make the call in the final minutes of who picks the stars, pending who is doing what and who is available...but whoever picks the stars is someone who is (1) knowledgeable about hockey, (2) has actually watched the game, and (3) isn't completed bias to the other team. I think its important that you all know that I NEVER pick the stars because I dont know hockey and I never get to watch 5 minutes of the game because I am so busy...heck...I didnt know what a forecheck was until after I got hired... anywho, on Saturday the stars were picked by a rep from the OHL and a couple of OHL scouts, and on Sunday the stars were picked by a neutral beat reporter (not Saginaw or Sarnia papers). On a personal note, I am glad I don't pick stars, because Sunday would have put me between a rock and a hardplace = thx! Bill
